I love the 3GT. Almost pulled the trigger on the new C-class until I get to know the 3GT. Perspective guys, perspective.

Please unite BMW fans. We need to grab as many customers as we can so we have the resource to do R&D, marketing...etc. in order to satisfy as many fans as we can. Its getting pretty competitive out there don't you think?

Who knows, maybe sedan as we know are slowly evolving into 4 door coupes. Anyone else think Tesla Model 3/New Civic touring has similar profile to the 3GT?

If you're going to gain the maximum utility from a car without going to a station wagon it's going to be a hatchback. That fact isn't lost on either Tesla (Model S) or Honda, or Porsche (Panamera) for that matter. But it appears that Tesla screwed up with the 3, and of the criticisms thus far leveled at it the lack of a hatch is at the top of the list.
The Panamera was one of the cars that made it onto my short list, but as sweet as it is I couldn't justify paying twice what my GT cost.

This is -- by far -- the dumbest, ugliest, most useless car in BMW's lineup.

It was introduced with the active tourer then the new x1, now it will be available for the 1 and 2 series, so I guess it will be an option on the sedan sooner or later.

I like the concept but it doesn't look as nice as the new Tesla.

Thank you for your very relevant comment. Most informative and certainly adds to the discussion.

Honestly I hate to say it as others have, but this would just look so much better and it would be even more practical as a true wagon. If you want to call it a crossover thats fine (IE, X1) but at the end of the day its a f***ing wagon, or in this case I think it should be at least.

I still don't understand why we love SUVs but hate wagons so much here in the US. We dance around all these stupid marketing terms that all reflect back on *NOT being a wagon, when you're just being sold by a bunch of suits because regardless of what you tell yourself you are indeed driving one and you should embrace it instead of run from it.

If any M platform car came as a wagon I'd never buy another car again. . . If Audi brought the RS6 Avant to the US I may rethink that, however, as I think that is the sexiest most practical beast out there.

It look just fine the way it is.

If you want a Wagon...you can by a Wagon but if you wanted a GT you can buy a GT.

That situation has now reversed, but only temporarily. We haven't seen the last of the $4 gallon of gas.

Where the GT and F31 in particular are concerned I considered both. What sold me on the GT was the longer wheelbase, rear seat legroom, higher seating position, smoother ride, equivalent cargo space, and IMO a sleeker look. To me the F31 looks like a soccer mom's ride.

Actually, the GT has the most cargo space of all F3x designs, even more than the F31's.

The slope of the hatch does have a limiting effect on the size and shape of what you can fit in the trunk compared to the wagon.

The latest convert after seeing and sitting in my GT currently has a 535. If not for the GT I would not have bought a BMW. None of the car models lower than the 7 series had the passenger space I wanted, even a 7 didn't have the cargo room, and I did not want an SUV.
Well said. I`ve also seriously considered an X3 but I couldn`t ignore that the GT has

- a lower base price
- handles better
- offers more standard options
- more rear legroom (even more than an X5)
- plenty of cargo room
- better fuel economy
- lower cost for wheels and tires
- possibility of adding M Performance Power Kit which I did.

Don`t get me wrong, the X3 is a great car and the 2018 version is even better... but like you said, not everyone wants an SUV.
