I was cleaning my front bumper today and decided to take the license plate off. It looks so much better… Anyone else driving around without a front plate and getting away with it?
Note: I currently have a tow hook mount.

I wouldn't try that in BC... you would be asking for trouble. they are pretty stingy about front plates and front window tints.

This ideas clever but you gotta hack the front grill to make it work.

So if you get a ticket do you have to show that you fixed it? Do you just tape it to the front to satisfy the judge and then remove it or use the tow hook and then remove it afterwards? I installed mine to avoid the hassle and have holes drilled in the bumper so would have to remove it with some bondo.

For now I don't have another plan. Presume if I get a ticket I'll have to pay. |

I kept mine on since I'm in Ontario but I did wrap the plate cover to reduce the white area of the plate so it blends in a bit better... I'm not too bothered by it.

I have been driving around without a front plate for over a year now without any problems. Passed plenty of police but my car is mostly stock so I don’t think it calls too much attention. Mainly drive around the east side of downtown Toronto as well as Markham and Richmond Hill.
As I understand it the ticket is $110 with no impact on insurance or points. Probably an easy fight the first time if you take it to court. But I’d be willing to pay $110 a year to go without a plate. |

If you paid the ticket, then it will be in the insurance record. It's just matter of how your insurance company treats your file when time to renew. Get a bunch of these tickets, pay it and see. If you decide to go fight them in court, think about the lost time/inconvenience, income (if applicable) and gas for each visit.
If you get dinged for big hike in premium, please don't go complain about how the insurance company is ripping you off big time for those really minor infractions. |
