In-Tank Fuel Pump Warranty extended letter? N26

Did anyone else get a letter from BMW today saying that the warranty four our in-tank fuel pump was extended? It says it was extended to 10 years/unlimited miles. Haven't seen anyone with an n26 having a problem with their fuel pump.

Let me know if you have had troubles with it/ got the letter today

EDIT: it's for the N20 too. So n20/26 motor

I had a fuel pump failure on my F32 428i at around 25k just after the warranty ran out.
They said I needed a whole new fuel tank and fuel pump. kicked up a fuss with BMW customer services and they eventually waived the cost of the fuel tank as a good will gesture.
But I still ended up paying nearly £600 in labour costs though.
There was a recall related to the fuel pump but least they now recognise it as a real problem in offering the extended warranty.

Every car I own whether Japanese or German it seems every model year before and after has some sort of recall. Must be that I'm lucky.

Did the letter say model years? I have MY16 build 11/15 and I see nothing for my VIN.

The letter didn't say it was a recall just extending the warranty, there's a form to fill out for retroactive work done though

I got the letter today.

I wonder if it is possible to catch the issue early instead of suddenly getting stranded somewhere out there.

Probably not, as they would need to issue service bulletin and classify it as a "recall component". Now just imagine how many F30s would be out there by their gates .. )

I see. The thought of getting stranded without warning is not appealing to me. : (

Subbed. My mechanic scanned my car yesterday for something else and said a fuel pump code was pending. I hope I can qualify for this. Build date is 11/13

Happened to me in August. Was running errands around town and stalled about 100 yards from my home (in a driving rain). Had to have it towed (thanks AAA) to the dealership. Dealer had parts, got a loaner for overnight, and picked it up the next day. Looked at some Bimmerpost entries and couldn't find that it was an issue.....thought I was the (un)lucky recipient of a "one off". Then got the extended warranty notice in the mail a few days ago. Submitted my paperwork online and hope to hear about a refund soon.

Nothing listed for my 2015. But that link is for recalls, extended warranties aren't the same thing.

Do check out bmw-rp.com. It shows what ELWs are available on your VIN.

What are you guys checking? It's an extension of warranty not a recall, right?

Is there a revised part or just a replacement of original?

Correct this is an extended limited warranty(ELW) for in-tank LPFP.

The SIB associated with this warranty should show if a new part# is used. From online part list, there is no new part# for F30 LPFP.

Not there either. Only the leak diagnosis module, timing chain and thermostat.
