Debadged and looks horrible, Factory error? can it be corrected?

Hey guys, Of all the Vehicles I've removed trunk badges from in my life this would be the first time I've come across one this bad, Clay bar wont remove, Buffed a little with an orbital buffer and nothing, Dont want to risk wet sanding it. It looks like some Jackass at the factory put the Badges on when the clear was still wet or something Or have I just gotten lucky my whole life de-badging and this is typical idk. any advice? anyone else run across this? any way to paint correct easily? If I have to spend like 100 bucks or so to fix this then I'm going to just reorder badges cause it's not worth it. looks so clean though.

Actually looks like the trunk was re-sprayed and the badge was masked. Are you certain the trunk has not been repainted?

I would guess trunk is repainted by a shop who didn't want to take off badge before respraying.

Exactly

Trunk was definitely resprayed and lazy ass shop simply masked off the badge instead of removing

I would just replace the badge at this point

xDrive badge should be on left/driver's side of the trunk, with model designation on the right side, unless FL is different!

+1. The factory puts the badges on after they paint, not before.

BMW certified used with clean carfax, also it would be more of a pain in the butt to try to spray over a badge than to remove, that answer doesnt make much sense to me. Honestly you never know though. people are pretty shitty sometimes.

It might be able to be wet-sanded to minimize the border build-up, but maybe it is/looks worse in the photo than in real life.

It's certainly not appealing in person but it does look a little worse in the photos. you cant really see it from a few feet away but it enough to bother me. I'll most likely just put black badges on. It's really not worth the headache.

The only thing is (my ocd kicking in) I'm not sure the badges would get rid off the lines fully and may be worse. Something to consider.

But certainly rebadging it will Shield / take the eyes away from the indentation. He must've not noticed it with badges on to begin with.

Understood. But he's going for the debadged look 1st. I'd consider the extra cost for a fix (if John in VA is correct) but that is just me.

I didn't, I wax once a week too (speaking of OCD). I'm in that area a lot. Now I'll always notice it, shouldn't have just left it alone. It's just the 328i was the only chrome on my car. It was also an eyesore. That's what I get haha

I definitely would have preferred to keep it debadged but I just spent money I shouldn't switching from dinan to bootmod3 so I don't need to spend anymore right now trying to fix this if it needs a professional touch, I myself don't want to risk messing it up more over just put badges back on.
