Dual Diffuser (435i style)

I recently took my car to have the exhaust converted from twin to dual pipes and the garage also fit the diffuser afterwards. The fitment is horrendous and I haven't had much of a fiddle with it but I think it's the part (eBay replica) rather than the quality of fitting from the garage.

Now I think the oem m performance diffuser is over £400 from bmw but do I have any alternatives to fixing this issue?

I would try re fitting it. I bought an original one ( Not the same model of car as yours) as I was also worried about fit ( my dual one for my 320D was £179.99 from a bmw dealer. All the clips popped into place nicely but I had to push from underneath the car not just the front of it. The tips I followed was push the clip in on the middle 1st and then tackle the rest.

I'll give that a go first then and if I can't force it in a lot neater I'll have to just go to the dealers and get a different one I guess. Very costly for a tiny bit of plastic though

M performance dual diffuser?

That's a brilliant price, so certain garages will have different prices. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and ask for a price.

Thanks!

That doesn't look like its seated properly. If its a quality copy and the clips are the same and in the same place as the original it will fit but sometimes you have to get under the car to see where the clips are and "finesse" them through from behind whilst applying pressure from the front. When you have them aligned correctly, a bit of push and shove may be required here, you should find everything clicks into place properly.

Yeah agreed I think it's badly fitted, the guy fitting it did say it was a nightmare but perhaps it was worried about damaging the car and just left it. He was only really there to fit the exhaust after all.

Anyway tomorrow I'll have a go at it and see if I can get it clipping in better.

TBH, your installer may not have given proper justice to your eBay diffuser as far as fitment goes since it is recommended to remove the rear bumper to properly install the diffuser (regardless of supplier)

Pretty sure he didn't go to the trouble of removing the bumper?

I replaced my 435 MPerf Diffuser with an aftermarket carbon fiber version (not from eBay) & it fit perfectly

You might want to try removing bumper & installing b4 you ditch the eBay part & buy a new one...

Who recommends this? BMW?

Removing the bumper is unnecessary and whole load of extra work to fit a clip on part. It's a pretty straight forward job with dozens of "how to" DIY's available on line.

Not seen one where the bumper was removed or recommended to be removed.

Every aftermarket vendor I talked with prior to choosing the one I bought

It was their recommendation for better fitment - if you buy aftermarket you can't always expect it to fit well using OEM install routine

I managed to improve the fitment but it wasn't perfect and I found it too annoying to leave so I've purchased and fit the oem diffuser. Cost me £330 quid with 10% off as it was an online purchase/enquiry.

It's a shame because the ebay one seemed fairly good quality and looked perfectly fine but just wasn't perfectly snug.

I bought an ebay special, plastic "carbon fiber" rear diffuser and a few of the clips were incredibly hard to get seated properly, it helped to remove the rear reflectors to work with the clips in that area. The fitment on mine is pretty good actually. Did not have to remove the bumper to install.

I bought one off of amazon, it was really hard to fit on first and fitment was extremely tight. Took me a hour but I forced it in, only 150 USD.
