LCI climate control retrofit

I was able to secure a LCI climate control panel for my 15 335i. I was wondering apart from having the unit itself is there anything else I will need? Will this unit require coding or will it be a direct plug and play? I heard that the display light changes from white to orange at night so I am assuming coding is needed to activate that function. Apart from the light changing feature is there anything else in this AC unit that is unique?

Thanks!

hi,
i have a 2016 bmw 316d. i have tried to do this retrofit. I bought the controls but when I connected it, everything worked except for the heat. I couldn't change it from 16 degrees. I was looking through the IHKA3 module in e-sys and changed in IHkA3 -> 3000 -> KLIMA_SG_ART -> from IHKA 1Z -> IHKA3Z. (I have a couple options IHKA2Z, 4Z, IHKR & IHKS) now everything works except for the air direction. for whatever reason it only blows air out through the dash. doesn't matter which direction I point it at. I was thinking that I need to code the digital position in aswell but I couldn't find that option anywhere. when I VO code the module it the air vents work again for a moment and when the flash completes it resets to the dash. when I install the old controls everything works fine.

Best Regards.

I have an early 15 (09/2014 production date) and it was plug n play.

It’s one of the reasons I chose a 15 over a 14.

To get the color changing to work as it should instead of based on position of cabin dimmer you will need to code. But you can make do just fine for a while w/o it. I did.
While you have it apart consider the upgrade to LCI illuminated radio trim so you aren’t doing it twice.
Also makes it easy to swap back when/if you go to dealership for diagnostics or computer flashing.
