Windshield cowl/cover is 51717258177. I've had them crack on the E46 & E39, but not on the F30 - yet.

That damage is sun/UV related. It can be prevented by periodically treating the cowl, which you should do with all the plastic and rubber parts. You can find the part # for a replacement cowl at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/

What do u recommend treating the cowl with ? I was thinking chemical guys vrp ?

I use this, which also does a great job on all the plastic interior surfaces:

It's not advertised for the interior dash, doors and other panels. I used it by mistake and found it was better than a different product I had for that. VRP may be similar.
