DIY Complete Guide to full LED bulb swap for the F30s with halogen headlights

In this guide I will share how I switched my parking lights, DRL and low beams all to 6000k LED bulbs.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for if something goes wrong with your vehicle. Follow this guide at your own risk.

Here is what you will need and the links to all the bulbs:

Parts Needed:

Parking light LEDs:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F232278724652

DRLs:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F281345560325

Low beam headlights:
ROADSUN H7 LED Headlight Conversion Kit 6000K Cool White 72W 9000LM Replace Halogen Bulb Headlights - 3 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/roadsun-H11-R..._14&th=1&psc=1

LED Front Turn Signals:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F122259764387

WiFi OBD2 for BimmerCode App:

Vgate iCar Pro Wi-Fi OBD2 Scanner Scan Tools OBDII Car Diagnostic Tool Code Reader Fault Check Engine Light for iOS iPhone iPad/Android Compatible with ELM327 Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4QL7..._6lsDAbY6BKQSW

BimmerCode App (Pro) for iOS or Android:
Download from the app store on your phone and buy the pro version/unlock coding for $35

Pricing:
$22.50 - Low beam LEDs
$9.29 - Parking lights LEDs
$8.29 - DRLs LEDs
$3.59 - LED Front Turn Signals
$28.68 - Vgate WiFi Adapter
$35.00 - BimmerCode App
Total: $107.35

Steps:

1. Remove the DRLs and parking lights from the top part of the headlight (from the engine bay) and replace with the LED bulbs linked above. Bulbs should be plug and play

2. Remove and replace the low beams - reference this thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=865909, follow the steps below once you get the old bulb out and are ready to put the LED in:

NOTE: You may have to reverse the way you connected the light as polarity of the connection matters. I suggest turning the headlights on and making sure they work before putting everything back.

3. Connect to the BimmerCode App with your phone via the VGate WiFi adapter and code the headlights from the FEM module - reference this video for BimmerCode in action:

Specific Steps:

Change the settings in the FEM module as follows for the low beam, DRL, and parking lights:

Pictures:

DRLs:

Parking Lights:

Low Beams:

^ This Photo does not really show how bright the LEDs are compared to the halogen OEM bulbs. I tried to get the best picture I could, I was in a Walmart parking lot and lighting in the lot was not great. The car a the end of the beam is about 6-7 car lengths away. (rough estimate). Also, the color of the 6000k LED isn't that blue - it looks more white in person, it is just how the camera took the photo. Also the angle of the beam in not so narrow, it lit up more of the lot on the left and right (not seen so well in the photo).

Parking Lights (Top Left), DRLs (Bottom):

Front Turn Signal Light LEDs:

These get rid of the "yellow egg yolk" from the headlight

Hey, the bulbs linked above are for two bulbs each. One purchase per link is all you need if that makes sense

Edits and pics to follow
Did the OEM dust caps need modifying?
Or did you use a larger aftermarket dust cap?

Thanks for this. I have the stock halogens and they really bum me out. How is the pattern and reach of the led low beams?

Based on your experience would you guess these would work?

It seems like this bulb is a little longer so it will clear the headlight angler/shield (see low beam led pic) so I think you should be good. You can compare the size of the leds by looking up the roadsun led on Amazon and checking the led dimensions and comparing it with the one you linked. Dimensions will be in the photos Amazon posted for both leds.

Thanks again for your responses and adding photos.
Lights look good and I like how the bulbs still look oem unlike those Hikari ones. The only reason I was interested in the Hikari, is because they specify which Cree LEDs they use.

Any plans to do the High beams or Fogs?

No problem!

Yes, I was thinking about getting 3000k yellow LED fogs - I may add that to this guide next if I decide to order the LEDs

I did the yellow 3000K led fogs and they look good.

I also added yellow lamin-x fog lens film.

Oh nice! Do you have any pictures of the film and/or the lights. Also, which LEDs did you use?

Anyone wanting to do this ebay has a 20 percent off coupon until 8 pm PST today PSPRING20 is the code

I bought these for low beam and fog lights

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2xH11-H7-H1...72.m2749.l2649

The reviews for these headlights were one of the best on amazon and about 10 dollars cheaper than on amazon with the coupon for ebay, and they're direct from the company on ebay
