Sorrento Hotel recommendation

Family wedding next year in Sorrento and looking for a small, traditional hotel near/in the town. Not a big fan of large corporate hotels.
Any recommendations?

Imperial Tramontano really good classy hotel and a couple minutes walk into Sorrento centre - restaurant cantilevers over bay of Naples

The Grand hotels in Sorrento are great. At least when my wife and I were there 10 years ago. We got married in Positano but stayed in Sorrento. Also while you are in Sorrento you may want to check out Ristorante Museo Caruso. We had an amazing dinner there. Pricey but very good.

I can highly recommend Hotel Palazzo Murat in Positano which isn't that far from Sorrento. It's the sort of place that doesn't say no to requests, regardless.

I was married in Sorrento ten years ago and we stayed at the Bristol Hotel.I don't know how small you want to go and it's not tiny, but is well positioned.

I like that place too. Haven’t been there for years though.

I had dinner there just last week. It was fantastic and the hotel looked very nice.

I would also recommend staying in Positano. I stayed at the Alcione Residence and it was great - amazing views, terrace overlooking the town and the sea, and walking distance to everything. Small hotel, 16 rooms in total I think, and very boutique feeling.

Right across from the "famous" Le Sireuse Hotel at a much more reasonable rate. They also bring breakfast to your room every day, and the room was recently renovated and very nice.

Hotel Plaza. Lovely small hotel, air conditioned rooms, right in the center of Sorrento.
Would stay there again if we ever went back

Your question needs to be refined I feel. Do you want a small spit and sawdust or a reasonable expensive luxury pad with sumptuous views.

Someone suggested the Bristol and it is really well positioned. I have stayed in the Ambasciatori in the same street a room in the cliffs overlooking the Bay of Naples with views of Etna - look at the cruise ships in the morming depositing their clients into small tenders to come into port. Its not cheap but TUI do it in their a la Carte brochure which means you get a restful taxi transfer from Naples airport. Thoroughly recommended if you have the money.

Walk down to use the ferries to go to Naples and Capri and visit Ravello Amalfi and Positano - sumptuous places. Dont hire a car for the coastal drive unless you have khaki trousers!! Rather get in the bus queue early and take a seat on the right hand side going to Amalfi etc - a cheap and easy way to see one of the Earth's great wonders. You'll have a great time - I'm horribly envious - you'll know why they say see Naples and Die!!!

Spit and sawdust, no thanks!

Quality, smallish and authentic Italian would be nice, would rather sacrifice small than Italian as there appears to be some larger hotels that still have that local feel.
Thanks so far for all the replies, really helpful.

Stayed in a few of the above and would stay in any of them again, all good shouts.

One thing I'd say is that I don't normally suffer with/from Mosquito bites, the only place I've ever been tortured is Sorrento, so take some repellent with you.

If you do go to Pompeii take the local train, its a lovely journey and the station in Pompeii is right by the dig site.
