Brake noise when coming to a stop
Hello Everyone,
I changed the brake pads on F30 328i a month ago and I'm 100% sure the I've done the brake job the proper way. I didn't use copper anti seize lubricant. The noise happens when I press the brake pedal and the speed is below 2 miles an hours. I used Textar brake pads and didn't replace the rotor because they were in good condition. I need your help. |

Noise comes from metal to metal contact. That comes from inadequate lubrication.

What do you recommend me to do ? The noise is really annoying and it makes the car sound janky. Should I removes the pads and apply copper anti-seize lubricant ?

I use this on all the mating surfaces between the pads and carriers:

It's not always possible to cure the noise, although it's much more easily fixed with 'regular' pad compounds. A generous smearing of ceramic grease on the rear and edges of the backing plate tends to work well.
Pads with a high metal content, i.e. ultra high performance pads which can withstand hard track use, squeal at low speeds and can be pretty much impossible to 'cure' even with proper bedding.

Does it go away after the first few stops? With good pads and rotors mine always makes a "grinding" noise after it's sat for a while (8 hours or more), but goes away after I stop once or twice and is dead silent for the rest of the drive. Using textar pads, and genuine bmw rotors (according to turner). I used lube on the pins and backing plate (textar ceratec).

Yes, it does go away after stopping a couple of times. Mine doesn't make any squeaky noises but it makes a weird noise that I can't explain. It sounds like a body panel scraping a wall. It makes me feel like the car is janky. lol

I hear ya, it caught me off guard the first few times. Now I kind of pull out of my spot and immediately stop to get it out of the way, then it is good for the rest of the trip.
