M4 and 435i Manual Transmission
To give a little context, my second gear syncro gears are gone, and I am looking for solutions to the problem. The two options are to buy a trans or rebuild the one currently in the car. Both are viable options.
However, I was wondering if the m4 and the 435 have the same manual transmission because buying a wrecked m4 could be an option as well. I assume that they wouldn't be the same given the difference in the power units. Maybe some suggestions on what to do about my syncros, I assume others have came across this problem. Thanks for the help. |

They aren't the same variants, they're different PNs.
I haven't verified fitment yet, but I believe the bolt pattern on the bellhousing is the same. |

I believe the bolt patterns are the same as well, however I can't be 100%
I know people are swapping dct trans into f30/32 etc, but I'm not sure if they're all m2 trans. Maybe cross reference m2 dct with m3/4 That'll maybe confirm bell housings between n55 and s55 are the same? |

I mention I believe the bolt patterns are the same because the S55 M4 and N55HO M2's both use the exact same manual transmission.
I doubt BMW created the block for the N55HO in the M2 to be different than the standard N55 - the internals, yes (forged crank), but the block itself, no. Last edited by terryd5150; 01-15-2022 at 04:09 PM.. |

It wouldn't make sense for a different block, which we know are the same outer, and it wouldn't make sense for bmw to have a special dct for the m2 so that basically confirms things |
