What F3x components failed after the warranty expired: please post your updates here

Dedicated thread with components failing after the warrant expiration will help the community to keep an eye on these components and visit the dealer before the expiration date.

My warranty is still active with 7 months remaining.

2017 440i GC with 27K miles.

My battery was replaced at around 35k. I wasn't experiencing any issues but the dealer replaced it when I got an oil change.

No failures, but my warranty expired in January. First week of February I get an intermittent suspension squeak. Figures.

58k miles

Oil filter housing gasket (seeping but not leaking. I'm OC about this stuff)

Valve cover gasket. Started to seep @53k miles. Because plug swap requires removal of components which also get removed when the VCG is replaced I held off until now.

Valve cover and PCV vent tube replaced as well. Why? I'm keeping the car and don't want to crack open everything again if the PCV failed or the cover cracks.

Gaskets. All the gaskets. If they're not leaking now, they will. Not saying you should do this, but if you don't have a leak yet, you could try dribbling some used motor oil around the main suspect areas and try to get them to replace them for you.

On my M235i, the valve cover gasket started seeping around 70K

On my current 435i, the charge pipe cracked at 40K.

As for under warranty repairs, the 2er had the charge pipe, oil filter gasket and drive belt tensioner all replaced under warranty.

What spots may that be? OFHG and VCG? Where does the oil typically go (google wasnt that helpful)?

VCG usually leaks toward the exhaust side. There's a little lip there where it can accumulate and eventually drips down onto the exhaust manifold/downpipe area. OFHG leaks down the front on the engine, along where the serpentine belt is. Just don't drip any oil directly into the belt. It can cause it to slip off and get eaten by the engine.

2015 435i 65k miles...

1. GPS went dead - antenna OK, head unit ok... mid-wiring from antenna connector to head unit connector was the culprit. Fix was run OEM EBAY GPS antenna mounted in dash. $15. (I'm not chasing a GPS cable through the body!)

2. ACC - automatic collision control malfunction... around town it's fine, highway it acts up. Just needs "realignment" because it gets bumped around A LOT. Dealer wants $600 to fix. (My fix, pull off bumper, nudge unit up/down as the bracket is aluminum.)

3. Low-Frequency horn died - replaced/fixed using Hella horn from Amazon, $38.

Eyeballing coolant breather line... although at 65k ... it's still solid.
(EDIT 24 hours later)

4. Coolant breather line, I had the part so decided to swap it now before it leaks. As soon as I went to un-install it, it snapped. Brittle as heck.

2013 328i sport line. Oil cooler gasket at 50400 ish. Discovered just after I bought the car and covered under my used car warranty. Outside of BMW's 50k warranty though. I added a 3rd party warranty after that for safe keeping.

Thanks for sharing. My vehicle is 2017 440i GC with 28K miles. Can you provide a few more details? Did the whining sound came about suddenly or over time increasing in volume? Any stored fault codes?

No faults stored. I bought the vehicle as CPO last year and I had been trying every dealership around. Engine gets up to operating temperature and it starts whining noticeable past 2k rpms and intensifies along with revving. Sometimes crowds out the turbo noise.
