My F30 build thread aka "Hilda"

I decided to (finally) start a build thread for my BMW, who I've named Hilda. Why Hilda? Because it's a German name. I know, creative.

Anyways, I picked up this 2016 340i xDrive M-sport in late April of 2019. Since then, I've absolutely fallen in love with it- it's easily my favorite car I've ever owned. Exterior is glacier silver metallic with a black leather interior with brushed aluminum trim. I haven't done too much to it yet, but I have plans for it in the future (nothing too crazy though as this is a daily driver). Pics are as of June 2020

Current mods:
Wheels
-245/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+
-18x8.5 Enkei Raijins in black

Exterior
-M Performance front splitter
-Kies Motorsports side skirt extensions
-Kies Motorsports carbon fiber rear trunk lip
-Kies Motorsports carbon fiber M-style mirror caps
-Monaco Motorsports carbon fiber rear diffuser
-Carbon fiber M exhaust tips
-M3-style dual slat grille
-Clear side bumper reflectors
-Black tinted rear reflectors
-V brace wrapped in blue vinyl
-M4 GTS/CS-style OLED taillights
-Euro mirror glass
Maxton Design carbon fiber-look rear side skirt extenders

Interior
-Blue M3-style gauge faces
-White LED swap on speedo, tach, and all needles
-9 color ambient lighting upgrade, including strips that redirect lighting
-BMW M-Performance light up door sills
-Blue aluminum paddle shifters
-Blue start/stop button (adds 50 hp)
-iDrive firmware upgraded to ID6
-Apple CarPlay retrofit
-Trim wrapped in forged carbon fiber

Performance
-JB4 tune
-Dinan carbon fiber cold air air intake
-VRSF High-Flow Catted Downpipe
-Dinan midpipe
-xHP Flashtool Stage 3 transmission tune
-Bilstein B14 suspension kit

Planned mods (for now):
-Dinan Stage 1 performance software

Thank yo! Not sure yet, but I was thinking about going with Brembo. I'm gonna do a little more research on it first though

I finally got around to installing the intake and the JB4... What a noticeable difference it made! It already felt fast but after those two upgrades it throws me back way more. I don't know how much of a difference the intake made besides that nice whoosh sound but that JB4 was well worth the money!

Installed some M-style carbon fiber mirror caps a couple weeks ago, and they came out great! I know the pics aren't the best, I snapped them kind of hastily; I'll try to get better pics when I get the time

Man, I'm updating this suuuper late, but I've got a high-flow catted downpipe and an xHP FlashTool stage 3 transmission tune in the car, and I can honestly say that it drives completely differently now. It's much more visceral, much quicker, and more fun, and it now squeals the tires if launched with traction control off. It makes me excited to ditch the garbage Contis and go with some wider Michelin PS. Pics are unrelated, but here's some shots when me and some friends convoyed out to Tail of the Dragon, where I really got to stretch Hilda's legs and see how well BMWs handle.

I finally got rid of the garbage stock Continentals and got some proper tires- 245/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ sitting on 18x8.5 Enkei Raijin wheels in black. The difference that good tires make is truly astounding... I feel like I'm driving a whole different car, both in terms of handling and acceleration.

put some new paddle shifters on the wheel. I initially had stick-on extenders that just were just put on the stock paddles via adhesive, but these feel so much nicer to touch and they look way better too. All in all worth the 55 dollars I spent on ebay

I got around to customizing my gauge cluster. I got blue M3-style gauge faces from a company called Venoxy, and while I had the cluster split open I also made the needles red and swapped out some of the orange LEDs for white LEDs. The speedo, tach, and all 4 needles are now white when the lights are on. I actually left the temp and fuel gauges orange by accident, as there were a couple LEDs that my friend and I missed, but I ended up liking the way it looks, as it looks good with the cluster screen at the bottom since that turns orange at night. It also fits with the center console too since the iDrive is primarily white lettering and the climate controls and everything else below the iDrive is lit up in orange, so the speedo/tach being white and the fuel/temp and cluster screen being orange really flows nicely with the interior. Overall I'm really happy with how this gauge cluster turned out.

Brembo brakes: neatly impossible to displace as a top choice. I also suggest to explore AP Racing brakes.

Pls describe the Venoxy F4X/F8X gauge overlay install.

I have an E9X M3 and the Venoxy gauge overlays had an adhesive backing. But the new Venoxy F30 gauges seem to not use an adhesive backing. I want to knpw before I open the instrument cluster.

For everyone else..the F3X Venoxy gauges on the website are mostly in KM/hr, so the MPH gauge selections are missing, except for red. So you have to custom order the color you want and the option details. Followup with an email. Compare the F3X and F8X details. I added the ///M logo and got the F8X arrows in gray and black gauges (backup). Gorgeous.

Ships from Poland, so order correctly the first time. I have to return 2 sets of red F3X gauges.

Cheers

The f30 ones are not adhesive backing- they replace the stock faces entirely. You have to take apart the cluster and remove the old gauges- they come out relatively easily.
If you don't see mph in the ones you want, simply add in the comments on your order that you want it in mph and then shoot them an email or DM them on Instagram. The ones I wanted didn't have mph on their website and they were more than willing to help, and they were very accommodating as well.
