I honestly don't understand the logic......

"Hey, let's split up all the ranges into.. say... Odd numbers are Sedans, and Even numbers are coupes.... Everyone's doing it.... THEN.... THEN.... Wait for it guys... we can make a sedan version of every coupe... in their own line.... we'll call them... Grand Coupes..... AND CHARGE MORE FOR THEM!.. Yes..... Splendid idea chaps..."

I just shake my head at the idea.....

Does no M4GC also mean no M2GC? Can't imagine singling out the M variant of the 4 series as the only one not to get a GC

I'll be very surprised if this sells well.
Because 6 series GC is going up against the CLS.
5 series is in the same class as an E-Class.

The Audi A5 Sportback is sold well in Germany. I think the 4GC will do either. And the reason why? The name ist clear: it's a big coupé. And people like copés more that sedans here. And it's usability will be better, if the backdoor lifts like the A5 Sportback's does.

i too feel this is kind of useless.....but ofcourse, its a BMW....im sure it will sell

i personally would get it over the 3 series sedan.....but not everyone likes the lack of rear head room

You'd be surprised how many A5 sportbacks I see everyday. They so popular here, but I'm not surprised seeing as Audi has priced them extremely competitively..

its a 2+2 instead of a 5 seater. the center console goes all the way back making there only four places to sit. and less rear headroom

I agree this 4 series GC makes no sense because it shares the front of the 4 series which is fugly. You cant upcharge with that front end.
The 6GC is pure sex though so regardless of necessity I support that project 100%

should they start producing E30's again? what are you saying? the company is one of the best luxury brands in the world because it remains competitive. if they were still making the cars they did in the 90's theyd be long gone.

If you look up the definition of coupé, most definitions will mention "two door".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupé

For me, adding 4 doors converts it into a sedan, which is the 3 series. There's no reason they couldn't make a 3 series with a large backdoor. In fact, I thought that's what the 3 series GT was :-)

The 4 series gran coupe will be heavier, longer, and more expensive than the 3 series. So basically, it's a 5 series.

It's a model based on a model that's based on another model.

It looks nice BTW, this is how the 3 series should have looked from the begining.

Yeah ok, they sell it as an "4-door-coupé". And i bed it's not heavier than a 3GT.
The 3GT is big and heavy an for old people, who like high seats. The 4GC is for younger people who are more interested in sport but need mor space than a 2-door-coupé. And they can't use a 3 Sedan, because you cannot load a bicycle, and they don't want to have a touring because it is not as stylish... you see, there will be a model for everyone.
I once found myself concerning to buy a A5 Sportback, because BMW has no aquivalent.

More specifically, how is this different from a 3 series GT?

One is a 4-door fastback based on the F3x platform, while the other is a 4-door fastback based on the F3x platform.

Methinks BMW is diluting itself with too many similar models...

The loss of the M4 Gran Coupe is terrible news. Before the recent news of a Z5M emerged, the M4 Gran Coupe was the only other car in BMW's lineup that held my interest.

With this and the 3-series...it's almost like BMW is competing with itself......useless waste of resources....

Actually it does make sense. M6GC competes with CLS AMG/RS7 and M2 GC competes with CLA AMG/(RS3 sedan or sportback).

No competitor for the M4GC - but actually that should be a reason itself to do it, only one in the market!

Ok guys. Now I see the reason why Audi isn't selling the A5 Sportback to the US. You simply don't want. In Germany they don't like sedans so much as you do. So who knows if the 4GC will be sold in the US.

I would buy it because it's the best useful+looking model on that platform for me.
