Intermittent "Cruise Control Malfunction" looking for part
I'll randomly get the cruise control Malfunction on my F30 2014 328d for a bit and then it'll go away. At first it was once in awhile now it's everytime I drive somewhere. After some googling the recommending fix is replacing the SZL. Does anyone have more information on where to buy a replacement module instead of eating an entire SZL or maybe a different fix?
Thanks |

If you have an F30, its not the SZL, that was a problem to E60's and E90's...I had same issue and it was the connection between the steering wheel and the column...one of the pieces that you unclip to remove the steering wheel. When I took it to the dealer they ended up replacing the actual cruise control switch on the steering wheel and the problem went away. (wire and connection was attached to the actual switch.) BMW has a TSB about this very issue.

Your best bet is to pull the codes. Even if you don't have any lights, your car is recording faults. Most faults must reach a certain threshold before a light comes on. Many things will cause the CC to shutdown and your best chance of knowing where to look is to ask your car.

Many faults won't cause a light to come on. Even if it does the light doesn't offer a diagnosis, it just says that something's wrong. A code reader is indispensable. One that I've found to work surprising well for a free app is Bimmer-tool Lite.
