Anyone fancying a Boxster / Cayman GTS for Xmas...
Son in law tells me they have 4 in stock, 2 convertibles, 2 coupe, not too over specced, with hefty discounts by Porsche standards - so £5k down and between £550 and £650 a month depending on car....
Could be yours by xmas, nice black friday deal ..... 2.5 not 4.0 sadly....the latter is in a very different price league! |

Somehow I don't think the price for 20k would be quite so reasonable? Does anyone even do 20k miles a year in a Porsche? |

servicing would be a bit pricey at the mileage but you would enjoy every one of them. Mileage only matters if you keep it to end and Porsche tend to have reasonably pessimistic residuals so you might be able to go over mileage and still sell at 3 years (not VT) and be able to wash its face.... |

Thanks to another pay freeze coming (I've had more pay freezes in the last ten years than rises although I guess I should be grateful I can't be made redundant unless I massively fuck up) my budget isn't going up as fast as the cost of a new car. |

I suspect you wont get this level of discount on a Cayman even in the new year as they will stop buying as much stock in to hold in the new year. These need to go before year end (need = franchise director wants to boost his bonus I suspect!).....
Also I suspect with the GTS 4.0 the 2.5 will become less of a car to want and so they are essentially putting them out for S money... |

I remember doing 38k in the first 12 months in my old 911 it was on around 55k after 3 years as I got a 520d to do the business miles in after the first year.

I test drove a Boxster 718S (that's the 2.5L) a few years ago. Really quick and exceptionally competent in the twisties but the 4 cylinder turbo boxer engine sounded like a tractor when idling especially when cold - was just embarrassing.
The recently released 4 litre, 6 cylinder engines don't sound that great anymore due to the mandated petrol particulate filters. I bought a slightly the older 981S with the 6 cylinder engine in the end, they sound incredible with the sports exhaust. |

The 2.5 718 GTS just not have the same attraction which is why they are at a discount and the GTS 4.0 worth more than the extra even when 2.5 discounted. Many think the 4.0 GTS 718 a better buy than current 911's which are not worth the extra money. At the time of the 981 Boxers/Caymens many on the Porsche forums thought the then 911 worth the extra and this 718 4.0 GTS a better car than equivalent 981 overall https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review...2020-uk-review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33SC1IHld9Q Last edited by pmgreenwood; 11-26-2020 at 05:38 PM.. |

The GT4 is the one to get, just cant convince myself. Had a sniff at one in Guildford a couple of months ago, just know I would regret not getting the Exige though.

Both will be collectors cars but unless prepared to pay over the odds in s/h market or have a record of buying a large number of Porsche's from an Official Porsche Centre and hence in their VIP or VIC "Customer" lists, the very limited no of GT4s are not available to most.

You may be confusing the GT4 with Porsches RS products which are very hard to get hold of at anything approaching list. |

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...t=1902072&i=20 yes unusually there does appear to be the odd GT4 available due to cancelled orders, maybe people realising the 4.0 GTS a better bet. |
