We Spy the BMW 4 Series Coupe M Sport in FEP Stage
BIMMERPOST NEWS We Spy the BMW 4 Series Coupe M Sport in FEP Stage Testing of the upcoming F32 4 Series coupe continues after the reveal of the 4 Series Coupe Concept and it has now advanced to FEP (Final Evaluation Phase) stage, as usually indicated by the sighting of a prototype in production colors. After the great first look at the F32 production Sport Line model we posted last month, it almost seems we're going backwards in terms of how revealing this test mule is. But, we also got very lucky with last months very revealing sighting. However, we do get better looks at some parts of the production car with our new spy photos. The front now bares portions of the M Sport bumper. The headlights here do not feature the newly styled angel eyes which extend to towards the kidney grilles as seen on the concept model, but those headlights may be optional adaptive LED versions. The tail lights' interior lighting elements are also different than the concept, but the exterior shape and styling should follow the concept's closely. There is also still significant camouflage on the car - especially the front fenders, which obscures the functional 'boomerang' air vent that we've seen on both the concept and earlier spied Sport Line production model. M SPORT This is a 435i / 440i and appears to be an M Sport model. Clues include the M Sport brakes (though not yet painted in blue and not yet paired with slotted/drilled rotors) together with the M Sport styled front bumper, sideskirts, and rear diffuser/bumper. Disregard the wheels as these are for testing purposes only. POWERTRAIN The 428i Coupe and Convertible will be powered by the same 2.0L twin turbo inline 4 as the F30, but the 435i (or 440i) may very well usher in the successor to the current N55 twin turbo inline 6 engine. Both engines will be available with either a manual transmission or 8-speed automatic, and both should also be available with xDrive. TIMELINE / PRICING The F32 4 Series coupe production begins July 2013 for deliveries starting late summer - early Fall of 2013 and it's currently rumored to be projected for a "just over" 2,000 euro higher price tag than the F30 3 series. Great to see M Sport version finally. Wish we could see more of that front bumper.
Side of the car looks immediately more aggressive than that silver sport line model because of the M sport side skirts. |

As predicted, it looks quite toned down from the concept and much closer to the F30 imo.

IMHO, they should reserve the LED headlights/LED DRL only for 435i/440i
I really hope the front headlights are closer to the concept seen in this thread. In that Camo, even with the an M Package, that car is far from aggressive. Let's hope we see or know more by the end of the Detroit Auto Show. |

Once it's all polished up and put on a show floor I'm sure it will look great. I'm sure the lights outside shape and outline will look like the concept. |

It doesn't have LED brake lights ? That would be sad considering my E92 got it.. It looks quite toned down compared to Concept, I hope this is because of camouflage..

hopefully they drop the 7 side vent. and why would it be a 440? i liked the days of 325/330 where the numbers made sense.. if its an 3.0 inline six, it should be a 430i. But im sure 440 just means they can charge more than the predecessor 335. 40 is more than 35!

Looks like the 4 Coupe (F32) will resemble the 3 Sedan (F30) a lot versus how different the E92 was to the E90. This makes me glad. I always like how the E46 coupe and sedan looked like they were brother/sister. The E92/E90 always looked like distant cousins to me... with the E92 being the better looking one by far.
