VRSF Catless DP Video
So I ordered my DP from Mike at X-PH last week and it arrived Tuesday. Just installed it yesterday after work and I am pretty pleased with the outcome. The DP is clean and it works. For the price of the VRSF you can't go wrong. I haven't heard much videos of a 335i/435i with a catless downpipe and stock cat back so I figured I'd take a video of that setup. Car is bone stock and just has the VRSF DP with BMC Filter (but that's not audible). Car will be going to the guys at Enzo Performance next week for a flash so I can't wait for that. I already feel the power difference just by adding the DP.
Here is quick clip I took today after work. Will probably upload a better clip with a before and after the VRSF DP as well as some driving clips. Last edited by R32DBP; 09-17-2015 at 07:57 PM.. |

With a catless DP, I personally feel there's no need for an aftermarket exhaust.
That flash tune is gonna be wild. Have you considered the black OEM exhaust tips? |

After getting it installed, I will agree that the DP itself sounds good for sure. It's quiet when you need it, and loud when you get on it. I am definitely exciting for the flash tune. I have to ask Enzo to check out my DP though. I feel like I may have an exhaust leak. Installed the DP on my back after work on wednesday night wasnt the ideal situation haha. Get a bit of rasp on a cold start in the morning.
I did consider going with larger tips for now but I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a custom catback later this year. I'm all up in the air with what to do with the exhaust. Need to get more seat time with the setup now haha. |

Yeah it's loud for sure in the morning. And then after that it's definitely quieter. I can barely hear it when crusing as I have a manual and shift early.

I will say that going catless on this car smells alot stronger than my straight piped R32 Turbo. That's what leads me to thinking I have a slight exhaust leak on the Turbo to DP connection.

With the 435, the garage will smell for awhile after the wife leaves. Meh, cancer. |

yeah thats what I'm thinking. I didn't even know there was a ring gasket for the turbo to DP clamp as I didnt see one when I took the stock DP out. I thought the gasket I had to reuse was the one on the DP to Midpipe which is that metal clip gasket. I realized after the fact that the gasket is actually supposed to be on the turbo to DP so I'll have to go back and check that out. Maybe it was stuck on the turbo idk lol.

Sounds good!
I should have my ER Downpipe installed next week. I'm a little nervous now to hear how it sounds paired with my Eisenmann race exhaust haha

I thought I wanted a catback after this but I think I might hold off. The catless dp alone really does make a difference in sound. Its quiet when cruising and loud when you get on it. I'm probably gonna run it like this til I save enough for a custom exhaust at a local shop or if a new catback setup comes out at a reasonable price. haha

Customer's 435i with a catless downpipe and a aftermarket catback barely smells in comparison. Anyone else experience this? |

If my windows are closed it doesn't smell but, if I open them, I can definitely smell them at idle, just seems abnormally strong compared to other's with a similar setup. My sunroof being open actually doesn't seem to let in much odor haha.
