Front tire wear on both edges
I have some excessive tire wear on the outer edges of my tires. I have been run 37-39 PSI on the front tires, following some recommendations for the 405M 20s wheels.
I am considering switching to a tire size of 235/35/20. Would this change help lower the outer tire wear issue? My theory might be a dumb but I think the outer edge is wearing more due to the slight stretch and a slightly wider tire will increase the contact patch on turn ins? Currently have 225/35/20s upfront. The inner wear could be an alignment issue, the outside can also be from cornering and it being an x-drive. Rears are wearing evenly. Don't have an issue like this on my RWD 328i. |

What is your alignment set at?
What is the tread depth in the center groove? Most performance tires have shallower tread on the outside edges, so it really looks to me like you have more significant inside wear, which most often is caused by having more negative camber. “Stretched” tires probably exaggerate the impact of alignment settings, along with having very shallow side walls on 20” tires. Although a 225 profile tire on an 8” rim isn’t unreasonable. Last edited by SuperLomi; 05-17-2023 at 07:44 AM.. |
