Not driven one but been in the back many times when taken to the airport and spoken to the guy that owns it. He only has good things to say about it when comparing to his last 2 S Class Mercs which surprised me.

Driven them a few times (730dL MSport) and they're very good for a large heavy saloon. Handling pretty agile, pretty quick and very comfortable. They are, however, extremely large. The LWB is a foot longer than a Mercedes E Class estate!!

I've sat in on.
I've driven one on a test drive. Huge car! Very nice interior and toys. Needs massive discount to be practical. About to have an LCI refresh. All that is based on the current version. 730D Xdrive pick of the range IMO...if budget allows get the M760iL more space and power than a small plane. How are BMW selling a V12 in 2018 fair play!!

Talking of V12's, they also like Daytona Violet.

Cheers for the comments guys - they look really nice and the interior comfort is very tempting coupled with 2 growing lads makes it practical, just dont know if it is me.....

Wouldn't a 5-series be a good compromise? More spacious and much better interior quality than an F30 without being the size of an aircraft carrier!

I think the 5 might be the way to go.......in all honesty nothing at the moment really excites me unless you are looking at M cars which given the miles I cover (even the M140) would not be 'practical' - suppose its a bit of a testament to the 330d.....

I posted this a couple of months back on here:
https://www.selectcarleasing.co.uk/c...a010-189259541 I think its gone up a little since I last posted this, but still not bad for a £83K 740d. And you shouldnt need to really add any options so the cost shouldnt go up.

There are people with M-cars who do a high mileage - thinks wills2 has put quite a few on his M3 - but if you want more interior room I guess you'd be looking at an M5 and even if you can afford the purchase price and service costs I imagine the fuel bills with one of those would be quite hefty on (say) 20k miles/annum! |

As you've obviously got a decent budget you could get Adaptive Drive on the 5 series, apparently it gives amazing ride comfort along with virtually totally flat cornering, i'm tempted but will see what the monthlies without it are like first.

It is just a bit of a look into things at the moment as we are potentially going from 2 cars to 1 due to my wife not being able to drive due to medical reasons........

In your situation a 5/6GT is also worth a look unless you have an issue with the looks (spec it right - e.g. carbon black M sport with big wheels & it is fine in my view)... I had a 535d GT which was based on the 7 series platform (don't know if the 6GT is) so was a fair bit larger than the 5 series - loads of head/legroom for 6'+ in the rear & loads of practicality (more so than a 7 even) - lovely place to be and agile enough given the size/weight, £16k less than the equivalent 7 series with probably better deals to be done... But they seem to be marmite...

I daresay you've thought of this already (so apologies if you have!) but I'm just thinking it would be a shame to ditch two cars you're happy with - and possibly take a financial hit in doing so - only to find you didn't need to! However, if you know your wife won't be able to drive again (hopefully not the case) then the move from two cars to one obviously makes sense. In any event good luck with it all! |

I agree that on paper we may take a 'hit' but at the moment it is all about what options we have......
