2 Series 2020 Grand Coupe
What do we recon to this? Can’t say I’m impressed with the styling but it might grow on me. This is the M235i.

I quite liked it when I first saw it. The version in black in the three photos however looks a bit crap - very unflattering pics, particularly the side profile
If I was in the market for a fast, compact AWD petrol saloon, I'd certainly put the M235i on the list - but happily I'm not, so I won't

Is that a production car in the OP, or a late=stage prototype ? Looks awful IMO. Bangle/GT rear, nasty rear overhang, squinty front end. Yuck.

It does look less finished than the 'cover' image on the CarWow video. That said, the fundamental shape of the body would probably be the same.
Interesting, but personally not a car that I'd buy.

Nasty. Too much car bulk and tiny wheels. Looks like a fat lass wearing stilettos. |

Would I tell a new owner I don't happen to like the look of their new car? Sure, why not if that's genuinely how I feel about it. But then tastes are different and anyone who goes out and buys a new 2 Series GC should do so because they like it, not because they just want universal approval from a car forum.

It appears to have a pair of loudspeakers embedded in the front corners.
Not a handsome beast at all. |

Adrian van Hooydonk has a lot to answer for. Audi and MB must be delighted every time a new beemer is revealed these days.
Only hope they don't ruin the G30 with the LCI due next year as I'm planning on getting one. If you're listening, BMW, please don't slap a bigger grille on it, it's big enough already, FFS!!

And that is saying something
Spent a good 20mns eyeing up an M340i in a showroom last Friday. The front is not pretty, no getting away from it. Apart from the silly proportions, the black grille looks like it's been spread onto the car whilst still malleable and attached with glue. The lower vertical elements and the swollen look in the corners just don't work. Not a car you'd park up, and turn towards to admire as you walk away. The rest of the exterior is pretty inoffensive, particularly the rear, which is generic.

Thing that got me when following an M340i was the exhaust tips. The little pipes that don't fit into those trumpet-like openings just looks wrong to me. You can however cure it by fitting the G20 330i M Performance rear valence and some carbon tips. Alas for the 2 GC I don't think there's any hope.

So.….I quite like it.
Obviously by the comments I'm a minority of 1 but for what it is I like. I've had a play on the configurator and to be honest wouldn't completely dismiss it as my next car (the M235i that is). I'll accept that I maybe need to see it in the flesh. I like the look of both the CLA and the A3 saloon and to be honest I think I probably like this better than either of them. I can accept that the back end looks a little busy but from playing about on the configurator this seems more palatable in some colours than others (I was liking Melbourne Red with the 552M wheels). One of my biggest dislikes on my 335D from day one if that aesthetically it just looks the exact same as a 318D. The new breed of 'M-Lite' certainly addresses that issue while granted looking somewhat bulbous from some angles. |

If I was to buy an M340i I’d have to fit the standard chrome grilles off a 330i and the exhausts tips of the 330i as well.. Job done.

It doesn't look great. Although better than a CLA, which isn't saying much.
I may not be the most qualified to judge a vehicle on looks

What I was sort of driving at is that there is a solution for the M340i in that you could modify it with available parts, purely personal choice though G20 330i with M Performance body kit ↓
