I'll cut it later if it doesn't fit or cable tie it.
It's a bit long, as it's very tight under the cover.
Don't forget to push down the pin locks on your housings when done!

Firmly locked in thanks for the tip, didn't notice the locks.

Thank you so much for the guide.

Received mine today - installed in about 20 mins, piece of cake. Great mod, can't wait to see it at night - it looks good even factoring out the illumination!

Fwiw, I could not get my pins in to the plug after being attached to 2 wires spliced. I worked around this by stripping the wire longer than normal, attaching the pin to a single wire, and splicing in the other externally to the pin. I then insulated really well with electrical tape to ensure no wire to wire contact. Worked perfectly.

Hi Christian,
do you have any news for group buy?
I went to my local BMW dealer, and they say that the trim part is not available neither in my country nor in Germany (!), the pins only come in a 10 pcs package, etc.
So if there's a group buy, please count me in!

Hi,
no, I haven't heard back from Mark or Jason. I've sent another email just now.

Careful mate. Jezzer got permanently banned for doing something similar with RHD Floor mats for the 1M community.

I don't understand this.

Seems like common sense would dictate that the owner of these boards want a cut of the money (selling various levels of sponsorship) if people/companies are going to be selling their warez and hawking goods to the rest of the community ... a community that they helped put together. Makes sense they want a piece of the pie if they are taking all this effort to connect sellers to buyers. And by sellers, I mean people who are solely on these boards for the purpose of making money and selling goods to the community - i.e. everything they do/post is for the purpose of marketing their products for the purpose of financial gain.

But for regular forum members who are just trying to arrange group buys and helping out the community and not trying to make money in the process.. why would they get banned?

To me, its easy to spot the difference. One's trying to help people, the other is trying to make $$$

Makes no sense to me ...

Sponsors pay the bills. If a sponsor sees that someone is conducting activity on the board in order to realize a profit (e.g. selling something,) regardless of how "token" said profit is, this violates the agreement that the sponsor has with the board (e.g. paying bimmerpost for the exclusive right to hawk and/or promote goods in postings.)

Regardless of the size or scope, commercial postings have to be limited to commercial accounts in order to protect the financial interest of the board (e.g. sponsors continuing to buy paid memberships.)

There's not much of a way around it, unfortunately.

The admins here are assholes about this stuff. They ban anyone who even remotely threatens a vendors profits.

I just received my 2016 F36 which is fully loaded, went to perform this amazing mod and to my surprise, I do NOT have an LED illuminating the cup holders!?!

The hole and mount is there but there sure isn't an LED where there should be?!

I have the option for Classic or Sport lighting in the cabin in iDrive, does anyone know if I can order the cup holder LED assembly and install it myself? Does anyone have any idea what the part numbers I would need to get in order to retrofit this? Or possibly forward to my dealer in order to have them order the parts as it seems this was left off of my ordered vehicle?

Thanks!
Chew

EDIT: I've managed to find the LED assembly (63319242162) however I'm having an issue finding out what cable is required, and conversely, where the cable plugs into.
Any help would be greatly appreciated from someone who has the lead in their vehicle!

Chew, how did you determine you don't have the LED? Did you remove the lower trim cover and have a look inside?
If the hole and the mount is there, the LED should be there as well. If your car didn't have the lighting package, there wouldn't be the hole.
Maybe check your options, if option S563A 'lighting package' is included, then there is something wrong.

Hi Dante, Chew,

I have a F36 2016 and have the same problem of Chew. I have lighting package but no led on the lower trim cover. I have not removed the trim to look inside but I have taken these photos:

You can see that I have no light and there is a gap where the led is supposed to be

It seems that the new ones do not have that led on the trim... maybe because now they come with the cup holder cover?

Dante, I've confirmed by removing the panel that the LED and the lead to attach the LED to the panel are not there. I've also had another member at another board confirm that his LED is missing on his 2016 F36 as well. So that makes three of us with 2016 F36 cars that don't have the LED. Seems like BMW just stopped installing the part even though the Light Package is standard now.

In the VIN Decode, at the bottom under standard features you can see option 563 Lights Package is installed. And as mentioned previously I do have the 2 color ambient lights (orange and white) in the rest of the cabin, on the doors, on the overhead control panel for the sunroof, and the back passenger area, however the one missing is just the cup holder LED which is obviously the critical part for this mod.

Here is my VIN decode : http://pastebin.com/bNrzW91C

Any help those of you do have the LED can provide in determining which cable is needed, and where it comes from would be greatly appreciated by all 2016 4 series owners I already know the LED part number (63319242162)

Thanks again!
Chew
