The e20 log is a little strange, boost/load is quite a bit off target. Some of your older logs had some erratic boost control too. A slightly leaner afr might give you the room to run e20 at this load.

With the e40 m2 logs I expected to see a fairly clean e20 log on yours. M2 on oem flash has a richer afr which adds extra stress to the hpfp. On a proper map with a more suitable afr i’d expect to see a higher ethanol tolerance over the jb4 setup.

This hpfp upgrade might just be suitable for the stock turbo guys looking to max out performance there. Hopefully your tuner can get you an e20 specific map to test.

same engine map different fuel . what do you think ?
I keep telling you guys... we got a built-in dyno with MHD... Your "Torque act. clutch nms" on average is 10nms higher with the E20..... just like I thought it would be higher.... but I was expecting a little more...

B58 on Stock turbo and fuel system running e85 on BM3.....

https://www.instagram.com/p/BvCwJV8n...d=tc6tkv5hhwwf

AFR is leaner but it shows that the hpd5 evo can support e85 with the required tuning.

Do you know how we translate that torque reading into crank/wheel Nm? Mine is reading 530 here but I am pretty sure that is more than 530 wheel Nm.

i have been waiting for my tuner to poke at the HPFP to see if it will hold up.

Logs look good, what’s your mods/spec?

When fitting the b58 hpfp did you use the sealing o-ring the n55 hpfp uses? I notice the b58 hpfp does not use one.

FTP charge pipe + boost pipe, Walbro 450 fuel pump,
2017 430i HPFP and MHD E30 custom map.

Anyone know what the max psi we can get out of this? Mine stock N55 HPFP hits 2,900psi according to BM3 logs. Haven't seen anything higher with the evo pump in people's logs. Not even sure if the MHD logs are measuring the same thing as the BM3 ones.

I spoke to 2 different tuners and they both said 40% is the most the N55 fuel system can support.

With the Walbro LPFP I run 50% all the time, and I ran as high as 60%. I am PWG N55.

Wow, the b58 pump makes a tremendous difference in rail pressure! I need to do this mod ASAP!

JordanTune just released full E85 flash for B58...stock fueling.

So we just need to find how to calibrate the B58 pump correctly to our N55...

This.

I wonder if the tables exist for the N55 so it can run the B58 pump full E85. Hoping some of the tuners can chime in.

I do know that for full e85, it can only handle it on stock turbo. If you upgrade the turbo with the B58, the hpfp can not supply for E85 at higher boost levels.

Most likely would need to upgrade injectors and LPFP to run full E85 even with the B58 pump.

You have to remember this is not just a coding thing. There are many differences between the N55 and B58 fueling. While the pump may help the N55, there are few bigger differences...

Look how the outlet of the pump separates into 2 hoses to our 1. (Part 5)

Now look why, there are 2 separate fuel rails where we have 1.

And this is just the tip of the fueling iceberg as this is only the equipment side. I do not know the compression differences, where the AFR's lie - whether the B58 runs more lean or rich, etc. If a tuner would like to jump on the N55 using a B58 hpfp, we can see what its made of. There have been articles saying the B58 is also fueling limited and Mission Performance and APR has already started looking at an upgrade for the B58. So please note that this is not the end all for the N55 hpfp woes, its just a great step forward without having to spend +$2k.

Hey Thomas,

Do you have any additions pictures (like the ones on N54 Tech) of the cuts you made to the B58 pump in order to get it to fit? I see the picture that shows where the new mounting hole is drilled which seems pretty clear. I notice that you also cut off part of the mounting bracket though and would like to see what that cut looks like if possible.

Looking to do my pump install this weekend and begin logging/testing. Thanks!
