I installed today the camera modul and it is working. But when I put my gear in reverse the camera don't come on the screen automatically. I have to select it. Can this be change with esys?

Interesting find. One of those cables looks identical to the one in the OP's first post.

I did a research about part no 61119281258 and it seems that it includes only Side View HSD cables.

From BMW... although most others seem to prefer running cable to drivers side. Seems to be the more logical way to do it as the cam module is under driver side dash

wonder if the passenger has more room &/or what other cables are ran down the driver side that could cause interference? for example, if you have every installed car audio, you run your thick gauge power down 1 side and all your cables like rca down the other or through the middle to reduce interfence/humming/engine noise.. just a guess, no clue the real reason

Thanks for the pic. Very helpful. Is it just the HSD cable that goes up front or is it also another wire harness? I wish I could see the program you were using. Very helpful.

I think it depends on where the camera module (TRSVC) is located. I think the logical diagram looks like this. So if the TRSVC is located under the driver's dash, the HSD will run all the way up there. If you put it in the trunk, the HSD will wind up there. The other part of that retrofit cable kit is the main harness that contains (from what i can tell, please correct me someone), 7 wires that go to various places (3 wires to CIC/NBT Head Unit, 2 CAN wires to iDrive, then power/gnd)

Btw.. the program that the other pic was from is called Rheingold/ISTA(D). Its super useful. I'll PM you where you can d/l it from. I think i'm running 3.47.x

Just got my rear camera in and it looks like i indeed got the short HSD cable. Its about 10 ft long, just enough to run into the battery compartment area. I'm gonna return it though. I asked the seller before hand what the crap was written all over the camera, and he assured me that the blue paint marker they use to ID their parts comes off with a little bit of alcohol. Well, 10 minutes later... using full strength IPA did NOT remove one lick of that "paint". He said it was a paint marker, but it looks like a Sharpie to me ...

i was hoping to get the camera for $150 anyways. I only agreed to $190 because i thought i was getting the full retrofit cable kit. Turns out it was only half of the kit (the part that's EASY to get in the US). Here's what i'm hoping to spend on this thing:

camera - $150
trunk handle / camera mount - $12 (bought this already)
cable retrofit kit (main harness+HSD+wire taps) - $190 from partsale.eu
camera module (trsvc) - $300

which totals ~$650. Thats about what i want to spend on this project

Seems like there is a huge glut of rear camera modules that are on Ebay currently (I searched on "bmw f30 rear camera module"), most are from Poland. The confusing thing is that PHYSICALLY, they look like the right part. But part number-wise, they seem to be all different. Not sure if i wanna take a chance... are these just older parts that have been obsolesced?

This one in particular seems to be the right part# (66539302256) that most of you have pointed out, but why does it not have the leading "6653" on it? And it starts with a leading "04" and ends with an extra "02" as well

You will find that some parts don't list the full 11 digit number, some shorten it to 7, so instead of 66539302256, you have 9302256, etc. I have seen this on cables, the PDC sensors, etc. You will also find that some have an 01 or 02 after it, I'm guessing it might be a version number. Not sure why that one leads with an 04 though....

S/N: Those prices are starting to come down quite a bit, they are about $100 less than when I ordered mine... I may end up attempting the surround view retrofit at some point after all if they keep dropping like that

As mentioned, I coded all modules with the new option just for uniformity, but if you had made any coding changes(video in motion, etc) then you would have to go back and redo those.

It's probably going to sound funny but gas removes paint. if you have some gas sitting around, put on some gloves & use a rag & see if that helps!!! bummed to hear the parts weren't what you expected...

Seems like this camera module mounting bracket was designed to be screwed in under the driver dash somewhere...

I assume that if i'm going to be installing the camera module in the trunk area that I don't need this? Did you "trunk installers" just lay your camera module right on top of the battery (loose)?

I'm guessing you saw Roxxor's post (post #18)

Now i was wondering if anyone could post a photo or the technical document of where this or originally designed to be installed in the front dash? Reason being i plan to do future retrofits so i bought the module with all the camera inputs, i'm not going to be running HSD wires to the trunk... doubt they would even be long enough

my question was really about the mounting bracket for the control module. is the mounting bracket even used/useful if you do a trunk mount? it'll save me some money if I don't need it.

You could probably find a way to make it work, however for me it was easier to use the bracket since it gives you two closed loops at each end that can be used to securely zip tie it to the wiring bundles. The module itself just has one closed end, so you could still figure out a wat to secure it.
