Dashcam Installed-G1W-C

Finally got around to installing my dash cam. Hardwired it to the 12V accesory underneath the passanger kick panel.

After much research, I pretty much found out there are many options to choose from. Most of them are Korean and Chinese products so the quality is so so. But after visiting a few dashcam forums a few models started to stick out and came highlly reccomended. One being the G1W-C. the C stants for capasitor, whics is great for high temperatures. As batteries tend to explode and combined with cheap products I didnt chance it. 1080p and pretty good night vision, so I pulled the trigger.

Its a $55-60 camera and I was supplied from a couple of reputable links due to even these cheaper producst have knockoffs go figure .

The whole setup cost me around $90.
$55 camera, hardwire kit $11.50, 32gig sd card $18 and the add a fuse $6.
So far so good. Works great, and it has a power on off feature so it just stops recording and stores the file after power has been cut, and stars all over again once the power is supplied. The only thing I didnt like is it came wit a chrome lenz cover, so I did not want the extra attention, so I painted it black.

Anyone else running a dash cam? What are your impressions and which models have you been using? I have also heard good things about dash cam mini 0801 and 0803. I though about putting this one withoug the gps in my other car.

I just installed a mini 0803 w/ gps for the front and a mobius B for the rear.
Using the socket under the glove box and the socket in the trunk.

Mobius B battery is swapped out with super capacitor.

Nice! How is the performance as far as recording in the rear. I heard there could be some issues.

How do you like the mini? I think thats the perfect size. Too bad they dont come with a capacitor. I avoided getting GPS since that can be used against you as far you your speed goes

I love how this car has 12V outlets everywhere at our disposal

I use Itronics ITB-100HD.
Came from the G1W-C and I can say the Itronics is much better in terms of image quality during daytime and night time.

Good info thanks for sharing. Ill have to check it out. I dont mind having 2 different cameras especially if they have good feedback from members on here.

I would like a dash camera, but I'm holding off until I gain more confidence the information on the camera can't be legally used against me.

I just had them running for a couple days and no real issues yet.
I updated the Mobius to V2.18 and the night footage is rather grainy.
It probably won't work well if you expect to see license plates at night.

The mini is working well but I noticed the footage is a little worse than the Mobius in day time. Mainly more blurry on the sides and not as smooth as the Mobius. I had a cheap polarized lens on it to reduce glare but I took it off for better image quality instead.

For the GPS, the GPS data is logged in separate files. You can exclude the GPS data when you provide evidence to insurance if the data doesn't help your case.

below are some pics of my setup.
I'm still waiting for the angled usb adapter for the mini so I can rework the cable to hide it better.

What a great setup. I really want to try the mini 0803. It's so compact and easily hidden.

Thanks!

Mounting the Mobius at the rear was a bit tricky as the brake light housing is not flat.

I made a custom bracket and plastidip it black. Used some black heavy duty mounting tape and used the 3M dual lock to attach the Mobius to the bracket.
