Wheel Alignment Query

Hi guys

I’m left completely mystified by my situation and I need some advice on how to proceed. I have a BMW 320D.

I have been to 3x garages today who all use Hunter wheel alignment technology. One of them said the alignment was fine and the other two said it needed doing. Now the spec sheet have different readings for each component.

Can someone explain how can this be? The same car and spec was selected in the system.

I’m trying to see who to believe here… I won’t name the companies just in case. Sytner isn’t one of them, but they can also do the check and amendments for about £100

Thoughts?

Other than buckled wheels,(were they checked?) either equipment or operators.

Problem is knowing if any of them are correct.

- Alignment equipment is not properly calibrated
- Technician(s) do not know how to operate the equipment
- The shop wants to sell you an alignment regardless of actual 'need'

What symptoms is your car exhibiting?

I agree with what HighlandPete says above. If it were me, I'd seek recommendation for someone locally. If others have been and been pleased with the results, that seems to me to be a good place to start.

Why do you think you might need an alignment?

Did you change suspension parts?
Do you have uneven tire wear?
Is your steering wheel off center?
Does your cars turn right or left when applying brakes?

My BMW dealer tells me I need a wheel alignment almost every time I go in for service. It just happened to me yesterday! My car drives perfect and the tire wear is perfectly normal so I told the dealer not to do it.
