Question Rear quarter window tint

Hey guys, just got my car tinted and was curious if this was normal for BMWs.. j noticed it and wanted to post here before looking like a fool if it’s normal.
Seems the tint cut is off on the rear quarter window? But it’s also boarding the black dots slightly so not sure if it’s intentional..
Thanks!

The tint should go over the dot matrix. A good tint guy knows how to make it invisible.

Maybe he never watched this?

Another cause of bad results over the dot matrix is cheap film. I did mine with Llumar ceramic, which had no problem adhering to the glass between the dots. You can just make out the dot matrix from very close range, but not beyond five feet.

Guess I’ll have to take it back. He did call after I sent those pictures and said something about the film not being able to stick to the dot matrix.

That's not what's happening. High quality film is thin enough and has a strong enough adhesive to stick to the glass in between the dots, despite the raised dots trying to keep the film from reaching the glass. The alternative as shown in the video is to fill the space between the dots with additional adhesive. It's not like dot matrix is a recent development, so there's no excuse for a professional installer not knowing how to deal with them.
