Have you tried running a lower boost map? Maybe the stage 1 91oct map. It should show an increase in HPFP #'s. Log it and share.

You could just have a bad HPFP. Or a bad LPFP that's starving the HPFP.
No tune before BM3, it runs fine stock. i will have to try a stage 1 map to see if its any better.

Anyone else have any insight? Is this just a shit map from BM3 for my ROM version? I have seen others having problems with BM3 shuddering above 5k rmps. I need to find a resolution to this

Did you open a support ticket with PTF?

I did before and they said the log looked good but to try a 91 octane tune they sent me that did the same thing. A waste of time

MHD was having a similar issue a month or so back regarding the torque limiter but it has since been resolved!! I'm hoping BM3 resolves your issue but if not your welcome to come join the MHD camp!

Good luck my friend

Try the lowest boost map available. If the stock map allows logging (I haven't tried it) do that one. I think flashing to stock, but keeping the DME unlocked will allow this.

This is just to see if your HPFP #'s increase. They should, if not then something with your pumps is probably causing your issue.

The tricky part would be figuring out if it's your HP or LP pump. Maybe both, but unlikely.

Just updating the thread for anyone whos curious, Stage 2 LPFP seems to have sloved the problem.

I had the updated fuel pump from the recall and it seems it was the culprit

Huh?

Why was my LPFP replaced twice under warranty for throwing CEL Warnings and the issue was the LPFM sensor could not be replaced so they had to replace the entire pump

Can you give link to place and part# where you got the stage 2 lpfp? Can we see new logs compared to your old logs?

The original logs should be in the OP. You could see the HPFP pressure seems to keep up now. Timing doesn't seem to be consistent among the the cylinders in this log though, any possible reasoning for this?

I know I’m late to respond to this but the HPFP hasn’t been recalled in any f30 n55s, it was 5 series models and some x cars.

This is really helpful. I just upgraded from the Active Autowerke Active 8 (piggy back) to their flash tune. Loaded their stage 2 map for 93 octane (I have fbo 2015 335) I noticed a shutter at wot above 5k rpms. I have 55k miles on the car and never had any issues until now. Sounds like it could be the same issue as OP but I can't do any data logging with the Active's cable. I would love some more details from OP on the fuel pump replacement.

hey guys if you want to upgrade the LPFP there are a few options. You can get a drop in kit from Fuel-It anywhere from $300 - $650 depending on options.

http://www.fuel-it.com/bmw-f-series-...-lpfp-upgrade/

If you are a DIY kind of guy you can by the rebuild kit for $109 (same as Fuel-It)

I am selling my used Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP if anyone is interested.

Works for the F2x, F3x and M2 Series.

Will not transfer to my M3 so I need to replace it.

Been having the same issue as op ever since installing bm3. Stage 1 when the car was stock, now stage 2 fbo. Only way i have "resolved" the issue is decreasing the boost by gear by 10% in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. Wondering if i should grab a lpfp upgrade aswell. Bm3 said hpfp was taking a dive momentarily. Unfortunately a hpfp is 2,500. As the above poster said i dont want to spend that money and still have the issue. Lpfp seems like a good place to start.

After installing the stage 2 lpfp is that it? No tuning to get it to work just plug and play?

Why not install the B58 HPFP? Way cheaper option.

i have dealt with breaking up since the day i installed the tune. I emailed bm3 and followed their instructions. cp,ngk plugs, spark plug gap, boost leak, coils. now they said hpfp. i turned the boost down in 3rd through 6th to avoid this problem. i got a second opinion and logged then studied my logs closely. my hpfp is below the target and above the target when wot.

i purchased the xdi hpfp and am getting it installed in july. I also i am getting the precision raceworks ignition kit after.

the sad thing about this is i am stock turbo with basic bolt ons and the hpfp is failing. i chalk it up to my mileage 75k and bad luck.

good luck to all

What is all this stuff costing you?? I am considering BM3 stage 1 because I thought the only preventative modification would be the charge pipe. Then I read to install new spark plugs and ignition coils preventatively. Now I'm reading also upgrade high pressure fuel pump preventively, is this right?

No, most don't need a HPFP. He has 100 problems with that ride. All you need is the chargepipe.
