Question F30 320d or F30 320d ED

I'm interested in knowing anyone who has the ED version and you think it's been beneficial over the standard 320d and vice versa please? Why didn't you get the 320d instead of the 320d ED or vice versa? Many thanks. The same probably applies to the F31.

I felt the ED just lacked a bit of output, I suppose if you are driving for economy all the time, that won't matter too much.

I think WhatCar? magazine summed it up quite well.

If you’re a company car driver, then the BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics is the perfect 3 Series for you, but private buyers should stick with the standard 320d and enjoy the 3 Series at its brilliant best.

And the 320d ED is not available in M Sport! And only comes with those ridiculous little shopping trolley wheels!

If you want to save money, buy a Ford, if you want a proper car, get a proper version of it!

i.e. Minimum 320d/i M Sport

If your not a company car driver ed isn't worth it. If like me you are though the lower bik comes into play.

Power difference is negligible I drove a standard 320d too and couldn't tell the difference!

At the end of the day it's not my personal car so other factors came into play - plus they were massively discounting the ed leases when I signed.

Shopping trolley wheels gives great town ride too ;-)

Yea for business users it may be different, but for everyone else, as has already been said, it's not worth bothering with.

I really don't understand why it's only available with those 16" wheels though!?

I had the choice of an ED or a Sport.

And I chose the Sport for a number of reasons.

I preferred the looks of the Sport especially with the 18" wheels.
Front sports seats and I like the red highlighting.
Ambient lighting.
Extended lighting package.
Sport+ mode
Extra horse power and acceleration.
The colour, Melbourne Red. The ED's available at the time were dull colours mainly black, white or various shades of grey.

It was a company purchase so the fuel economy between the two wasn't a factor as they were both more economical than my previous car.

I have an ed as a courtesy car till the m sport arrives in jan, it has sport seats sport plus and sport steering wheel. performance is great. Cant really say its brilliant on fuel over other models, its reading 48mpg, is this good? Im always in eco pro.

Wheels are poor although gives a very smooth ride.

Very pleased with it tbh

Why do you have it as a courtesy car until the "M Sport arrives in Jan"? You ordered a M Sport and dealer gave you a car until then?

Yes it was part of the deal, I basically said I could get an Audi or Merc without waiting, so they gave me a courtesy car to tie me over.

I bought my 320d due to wanting the M Sport pack and 18" wheels and as a private sale as above. Drove a 320dED and thought it was ok but preferred the standard 320d
