Help with LCI Radio Trim Installation

I just installed a factory LCI radio trim in my 2014 335i. Lights up fine but is white rather than amber. Is this something I need to code to change the color?
Thanks!

If you have the S563ALight Package on your car that can change between the colors, it will switch with the rest of the lights.

Yup, I have that option.
Maybe I need to actually start the car?
Was testing it by just turning on the parking lights.

I'm picking up this too myself. In the how too, I have seen that the connector to splice into is in the driver's footwell. In my car I have it coded to separate the Ambient lighting dimming separate from the cluster/controls lighting. My question is, is the connector in the footwell tied to the ambient lighting or the cluster lighting?

In mine, I just used the splitter cable that's shown in the DIY video's.

Thats what I plan on doing as well. Did you code yours to separate ambient dimming from the cluster dimming?

Just need to turn the headlight switch once to activate the interior lights. Go to the settings-lighting and change it from class (orange) to sport (white) if that option i present which it should be.

I did this a few weeks ago (installed the LCI trim in my 2014 328) and used the y-cable. After completing the install, I was able to switch between white and amber using the i-Drive, settings, ambient lighting controls. I decided to also code the option to have ambient lighted decoupled from the other dash lights so the ambient lighting stayed bright when I dimmed the dash lights. It works very well.

LMK if I can be of help.

I did not do anything with wiring in the driver's foot well.

The connector in the footwell may be tied to ambient or cluster lighting, but I did not need to access the footwell to get the LCI radio trim working in my car. I was also able to code the lighting decouple option without accessing the footwell.

Thanks for the info. Where did you plug the Y cable into, if not the footwell to power the the new radio trim?

Oh very good to know! Good luck with your install, the results are definitely worth it.

Thanks everyone for all the info.
You guys are right, the change from white to amber was in the light settings using idrive. LOL! I better go and fool around more with it.
Interestingly enough I also found out why my blinker switch didn't change from 3 to 5 when I coded it that way. Seems as though there's a setting for 3 blinks that you can turn on or off. I'm guessing that even though you code it to blink more than 3 if you're idrive setting is set for 3 it'll override any changes using Bimmercode or similar.

My understanding of the triple blink issue is that changes introduced in i-step levels 2016 and newer have disabled this functionality, even if you code it. Have you had your car updated by the dealer or otherwise since 2015?

You're right. Thought I had it solved by disabling the function via idrive and only ended up with one blink! LOL!
So I guess even if I coded it via Bimmercode it doesn't have any effect on the increasing the number of blinks.

Really unfortunate because 3 blinks is not enough, 5 is perfect. Years ago when I had a 128i it had the 3 blink set up, and I was ticketed for not signalling. Just happened that the officer missed it because it didn't last long enough for me to complete the lane change. I basically never use it anymore and just hold the stalk until the lane change is complete.
