How is this low cost?? Don't you have to unstitch everything?

The stitching is done between the old stitches. Look at these contrast stitching threads: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1476447 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1387402&page=2 http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showth...olor-Stitching |

My entire interior has been changed, coming from an SE F30 with the only factory options being paddleshifts and pro nav. I've done the following: - Switched out the seats from cloth to leather (including doorcards) - Wrapped all interior trim in carbon and alcantara to mimic the M Performance interior set (couldn't justify the £500+ spend!) - New M Sport steering wheel retrimmed myself in half nappa leather and half alcantara, and centre chrome piece and 12 o clock stripe wrapped in satin chrome blue (looks a lot brighter in pic for some reason) - M Performance pedal set - M Performance mats - M logo door sills - LCI gloss black LED radio trim piece About it for now. Debating on getting the F8x alcantara sliding armrest and alcantara/carbon handbrake to match the stitching on my steering wheel, but again slightly high cost so currently low priority! |

Here's the 6WB Digital full cluster installed. 10 minutes to installed and 30 minutes to recoding. 100% Plug n Play. And M Performance Pedals set. And M Sport Steering Wheel.

Bringing this thread back from the dead..
"Simple" mod today. Added a 20A trunk power socket to my '14 F30. Relatively easy mod, but a PITA to research what parts I needed to wire the unit directly to the correct pin of the rear fuse box. I really wish the dealer had selected to the checkbox to add the extra sockets from the factory.. Anyways, here's the picture; List of parts I used;
Power lead (red wire) goes from pin 162 of the rear fuse box to the center pin of the power socket. You have to remove the blue connector from the backside of the fuse box to be able to slide the BMW/VW pin into the appropriate spot. Ground lead (brown wire) goes from the chassis ground almost immediately above the amplifier to the outer pin of the power socket. You'll see a group of 4 brown wires going to one stud on the inner fender liner; attach it there.. Hence why it's so much shorter than the power wire. Un-heated 3/8" shrink tube was used to cover both leads between the power socket and the chassis ground providing abrasion resistance. After that, I secured the power lead using small zap straps to the existing harness. I left plenty of slack on the shrink tube section to make it easy to connect the wire harness to the power socket when the trunk liner wasn't fully installed. Wire harness essentially chases the amplifier wiring to the trunk bulkhead, then continues down to the floor of the truck using the existing harnesses as a guide. Hole in the trunk liner was cut using a new/sharp #11 Excel blade using a template I created. I'll try to add that to the bottom of the post in case someone else needs it. Next, I'm going to add the under dash and rear console power sockets... wish me luck. haha Last edited by zibbit; 09-21-2020 at 08:12 PM.. |

Thread revival!
I haven't done much with mine on the inside. Really, I pretty much like it exactly as it is, as far as colors, materials, etc. But, one thing I had to change was the steering wheel. I don't know what leather BMW uses for the non-M sport wheels, but it feels and looks like polyurethane. I rewrapped mine with Nappa leather. A much needed improvement, feels significantly better in the hand.

Not much here, but maybe worth sharing for some of you considering phone mounts.
Had the Kudu mount with a Scocshe magnetic mount attached. Replaced with the Rennline mount. I've also got some replicas M Performance pedals. Created a little travel car care kit for the side cubby in the trunk. And this one I guess is technically on the exterior, but it benefits me from the interior. I added the Euro spec aspherical side mirror glass to help with blind spot coverage.

Just got some stick on suede covering off ebay and suede door handles too. Suede shift and brake boot with red stitching was from cobywheel. Also added a BFI shift knob. I wanted to be different than the usual OEM interior mods. Next up, wrapping my steering wheel with the ebay kit, gonna have to channel all my steamstress skills.
