Autotrader grazing got me all excited. Again!

Fecking lot of money for an A6 estate, but it's got me all excited.

Worse thing is.....I can afford it for the first time in my 56 years.

Always wanted a mental V8. Like the practicality. I can get all my fishing gear in it. Don't know what the boys down the river bank will think but feck 'em.

I do like an Audrey.

I like these, great car and very cool, strangely I prefer the C7 shape, thought that was pretty perfect.

Also had the V10, which I got to 800bhp!

Really good allrounder, but they are heavy and a Typical fast German speed capsule!

Have to say an RS6 Avant is my all time fantasy car - sound, presence, practicality, performance. Every box ticked. Do it…

Was the V10 not the Gallardo unit?

Isn't the 4.0 V8 turbo the "hot-V" engine with the turbos in the middle? That engine has a dreadful reputation out here for cooking the turbos.

Tpo big and too powerful for the crowded roads of the UK, and the latest one is too bling...

I love a fast audi wagon, but i think the latest versions from Audi and BMW have lost the plot for UK drivers....

Autotrader grazing is fatal. Despite it not being remotely practical compared to my X3, I’m starting to lust after a thoroughly impractical 8 series coupe - saw a beautiful one the other day in that really dark metallic Green… mate has just acquired a 19 plate M5C so it’d have to be an 850 or M8 to get that fabulous V8….

I’ve been looking at E63 Wagons the past week or so
I can’t quite afford one since I’ve only just got the E53 Cab, but maybe one day.

Stunning interior, but the kitsch silver accents sprinkled all over the bodywork are nasty.

I'm not anti progress, but I am anti poor taste. Silly cartoonish wheels as well. Mega mega old man pretending it's a practical buy crisis car that. Might as well go all out and do the 911 thing instead.

First car I can remember really desiring as a child was a 911 Turbo. Yes they have been making them that long!

Glad I got my M5 and RS4 out of the way whilst I was a youngster then...

God knows what you would make of a 60 year old driving a Mini JCW... convertible!!

That it is. I’d venture it’s the most handsome BMW in a very long time….

Much as I’d love to jump at an 850i they’re (a) hideously impractical for my lifestyle (2 granddaughters, active outdoor existence which regularly requires a mobile changing room) and (b) they’re fecking expensive

San Remo Green was added to the colours at the 8 series facelift (March 22 build onwards). Fabulous colour and one of the 3 colours I wanted to replace my previous Dravit Grey 840i with - San Remo Green / Aventurine Red / Tanzanite Blue. It’s Tanzanite I ended up with.

The M850i makes a lovely noise, and if you want space for grandkids, they do make a Gran Coupe…

True. But it's a bit of an ugly duckling compared to the coupe

The 8 series coupe is imo one of the best looking cars on sale atm but there is also something very appealing about the GC. I am almost certainly going to get another 8 but this time I think I will be tempted by the GC.

The 850i is an awesome machine but the premium BMW charge for the engine over the 840i is frankly ridiculous. If I could nick an 850i at a 10k premium over the 840 it would be a no brainer but not 30k!!

Anyone who wants to get an 8 shouldn't be put off by the 40i it is a great engine and the old girl can still lift her skirts when required.

The B58 is indeed a very fine engine - on cold start it's actually louder than my neighbour's M5C - guess who the two least favourite guys in the street are...?

If I was ever to jump to an 8, it would need to be the 4.4L V8, but that in turn brings bigger running & maintenance costs.

The coupe is a stunning shape.

I did my best at ‘man geometry’ (a subset of man maths) to try and make it work. You can just about squeeze 3 adults into the coupe, with the passenger seat slightly further forward than usual, but the dipping roofline in the rear makes it tricky. I’m 6 feet and you couldn’t fit anyone with legs behind the driver’s seat in the coupe.

At least they made the 8GC useful this time. The previous 6GC managed to be 5 metres long without space for adults in the back…

New, yes - but lightly used examples (3 years old, 20-25K miles) can be had for around £10K premium to slightly younger 840's with similar miles.

That's my principal issue - it's me & Mrs BT most of the time, but we have tall grandkids and occasional other passengers often enough that space in the rear would be a problem. My BiL is 6' 5" so wouldn't fit at all.

Plus I'm used to the height & ease of entry of an SUV - to paraphrase Shakira, at my age the hips don't lie, they just don't work
