The configurator allows you to do it so I would say yes

For the topview you need folding/dimming mirrors

Hello
I want to fit a reversing camera to my 2008 E90 that I purchased yesterday.
I have found this number for retrofit rear camera cable(s) 61122162971
but I don't know which model(s) this will fit.

Hello
Does anyone know anything about the Alpine hce-c500??

It's made for the X5 so perhaps it is a candidate for other BMW models.
Looks like it sells for GBP860 ($USD1300) so it's not the cheapest option.

HSD Cable --- Aftermarket???

Hello
I have been looking at the issue of sourcing a long HSD cable.
It appears to me that this is a standard cable. It should be possible to use any HSD cable. This includes the aftermarket versions that are a lot cheaper than the OEM versions. Extension cables are also sold.

There seems to be a number of different versions of HSD identified by colour and sex.

It would be very helpful if someone could provide photos of the cable ends. This would allow a suitable equivalent to be identified and avoid paying a fortune for a BMW part.

I am guessing that the other cable may also be standard but I don't know enough about it. Once again, detailed close up photos would be helpful.

Full data is here:
HSD Standard

An introduction to the standard, including connector variants are here: http://www.rosenberger.com/0_documen...col_Layout.pdf

hey... nice find!

I think you are the first to identify what kind of cable technology the HSD cable is... at least that's the first I've heard of it. I would think with the info you posted, we should be able to source the part somewhere? The long HSD cable has been hard to identify much less locate.

In any case post #43 and post #79 prob has as much details as you are going to get. Btw... I just got my camera in today (woohoo), and here is a pic of the connector side of it if it helps at all. The second pic is of an older camera I returned, but its got the TRSVC end of the HSD cable in the pic. Sorry for the crappy quality.. buts it all I got If you find a source, please let us know. I'm interested is possibly running my TRSVC module to the front of the car if possible, and the retrofit HSD cable I ordered is probably only going to allow me to run it into the trunk.

The other reason i'm interested in sourcing the part elsewhere is that it will be 2-3 months before I can get the cable in from my current supplier (and at BMW OEM costs $$$), but if I can find it elsewhere, I will be able to install my reverse cam much earlier!!!

Btw.. Welcome to the forums!!!

Nice - that's most of what comes with the reversing camera cable retrofit kit, which costs me a little over $200.

Looking up those components (for what i could locate), it comes out to less than $60. The only thing missing is the rest of the wiring harness that contains the pins/connectors/terminators and single wires for the K-CAN/PWR/GND/... signals, which can't be more than $20 i'm guessing.

I'm curious how you located these parts (the HSD connectors don't show up anywhere that i could google). Also, do you know where you can source these parts from?

Gini,

Terrific!!

Am I to assume that each of these are preceded by the following: 61 11. For example the HSD cable is 61 11 9 272 503. Is that correct? When I checked in April 15 BMW ETK, that part is shown for 6 series

Appreciate your help!

PSA - Reversing Camera + Camera Module - $300

Just an FYI, since we're talking about parts...

Just noticed that on Ebay:

Reversing Camera - $129
Camera Module - $169

Both are used, but both look to be in great condition (esp the camera module) and the price for this combo is about as good as its going to get. I would get them myself, but already picked both these parts up already (at slightly more $$$ )

The only thing you would be missing is the retrofit cable kit (~$200), the trunk handle mount (~$10-$20) and some misc electrical connectors, so you could do the whole reversing camera retrofit for around $500. Thats a great price!

Hi guys,
10 pins connector on TRSVC module:
61 13 9 132 577 , price approx. 6€

I am not sure about the pins sizes, so I ordered both possible sizes:
61 13 1 383 776 (0.35 MM²), price approx. 0.8€ x 15
and
61 13 8 366 260 (0.75 MM²), price approx. 0.8€ x 15

I am planning to do this retrofit on my E87 this weekend. Since I already installed a COMBOX Media in the trunk, the TRSVC control unit will be installed on the same bracket

The TRSVC control unit needs the following wires:
- 2 wires for the Power supply (shared from the COMBOX) approx. L=20mm
- 2 wires for the CAN network (shared from the COMBOX) approx. L=20mm
- 3 wires for the FBAS signal (from the TRSVC to the CIC quadlock) approx. L=4000mm

I will use a shielded industrial cable which is available in my company, approx. 5€ for 5000mm

HSD cable (F12 series) from camera to TRSVC module:
61 11 9 272 503 ,length L= 1665MM, approx. 80€

I will install the camera on the rear bumper, just above the car identification plate like the F20 series OEM installation

The TRSVC control unit will be installed below the COMBOX Media, on the same bracket. So, a 1665mm HSD cable is long enough in my case

Prices summary:
- TRSVC and Camera, approx. 250€ (donor F20 series)
- HSD cable, approx. 80€
- 10 pins connector with pins and cable, approx. 60€
-----------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL: approx. 390€

And did you get this part from your BMW dealer as well? Do you know if they have an online ordering system?

Btw.. i just noticed you are doing this retrofit on an E87. You know this is an F30 forum right? I can't possibly think that this would be compatible... especially the software you are running in your car. You didn't mention which camera and TRSVC unit you are using...

Yes, I bought the HSD cable from my dealer with the small parts
They don't have an online shop as far as I know

TRSVC control unit:
66 53 9 350 995

Camera:
66 53 9 240 351

I have some basic knowledge on prog. and coding. I have developed for example this application which is largely shared on the web:
https://mega.co.nz/#F!VwJzgByC!K0krmp2Rfy86NetmhCIx6A

The description of this application is on another forum. I don't think I can post the link here

What do you mean with the software running in my car? It has nothing to do with that. I already tested the FBAS signal with an iPhone and I can watch a movie in playback on my CIC

So, the rear view camera will work on my car and in any car equipped with a CIC or a NBT since the TRSVC control unit is doing the job and just providing the CIC with a FBAS signal

I shared my information here since the main parts are common with the F30 series. If it's a problem, an administrator can maybe just delete my posts

Thank you for your constructive questions

Sorry.. i didn't mean to insinuate anything you are doing is wrong or question anything you are doing even in general - i'm actually very intrigued by what you are doing because quite frankly, its the first time i've heard of someone diving this deep where they are actually building the HSD cables from components and using a lot of the same parts we are using for our F30 for a different model. You go boy!

I think you are planning to do it the right way (under dash drivers side). I'm planning to do the hack way and install it in my trunk near the battery. So i'm not sure where its supposed to go in the front.

The pic i posted from rheingold shows a pretty close-up shot, so its hard to get a perspective of where its actually at in the larger scheme of the front under-dash area. Sorry man...

SteelerFan,

While I am not the original poster, assuming you are referring to the camera control unit, TRSV ECU, take a look at the attached BMW retrofit instruction (EBA); you'll see that the TRSV ECU is mounted on driver's side near the left foot rest.

Look over the attached -- hope it helps
