SOS call system failure
I have this message on my drive and dashboard.
Car is still under 3 year warranty so will have to book it into the dealer. Anyone had this problem and what is the likely cause. One thing to mention is that it snowed last night and the car has a light covering.

There was a thread a bit back think it pointed at backup battery starting to fail with the cold

You could also have a loose cable under the dashboard. One of the plugs for a light or speaker above the drivers feet causes this to pop up if the cable is unplugged.

I am 4 months in my 3 year warranty so will let BMW sort it. Hopefully, it is just the battery. Car has been standing for about 4 days without being used and now has snow on the roof. Maybe that is enough to weaken the battery in the headliner.

Got in the car today and there was no warning message. I must have put enough charge back into it with a short drive and it has now reset itself.
Will still get BMW to check whilst in warranty. |

Sounds familiar. Mine disappeared, popped back last night when I started the car at around 2 degrees, so definitely failing battery combined with the cold temperatures. I’ve got the insured warranty but my excess isn’t worth it for this, so at some point I’ll buy a replacement battery, easy enough to fit.
Funny that the warning just disappears, would thought it would be a code reset. Im tempted to replace the battery at a time where there’s no yellow message |

Looked up the parts for the telematics set up and it looks like there are two batteries, one in the headliner under the shark fin and one in the boot under the boot floor. Booked the car in at the dealers for 8th December so see what they say.

It's the 8th today! Let us know what they said, you either have a battery in the boot OR in the headliner under the sharkfin (most likely the latter).

They also checked that the car battery was functioning/charging properly, plus the standard car health check. |

I had this problem last winter due, I suspect, to a combination of low usage in lockdown and the cold. Once my usage picked up it disappeared.
