Thanks for the compilation of exhausts. I've been wanting a valvetronic exhaust b/c I like having the option to make it quiet or loud. I was hoping some forum members can give me some feed back. If I need to make a whole new thread, please let me know. Don't mean to threadjack.

I really like the sound (youtube clips) of the FI exahust, but don't want to spend $2,500-$3,000 on an exhaust. The affordable options seem to be the MPE for $1050, and the Remus $1230. Is the MPE not much louder than a stock 335i exhaust? Anyone have any input on how the Remus exhaust sounds? Thanks in advance.

No no, by all means. Let's discuss the systems. It's a tough decision, there are so many of them. And I'm right there with you - I want the choice of softer or louder.

I have a buddy whose girlfriend has an M235i with the MPE and it sounded great, but I've only heard it once. It's the only option on my list that I've heard with my own ears, but I just heard it with the flap closed I guess, while the car was parked. It was definitely a good sounding exhaust.

Word on the street is that Remus built the (now discontinued) E90 N52 "BMW Performance Exhaust" and I had it on my last car; it was a great sounding system. Remus has a good reputation anyway.

I have the armytrix. It uses its own vacuum controlled valve.

@Phyrexia I need to find someone local in Houston with an MPE so I can hear it with my own ears.

@Insane435 How do you like your amrytrix? Might be out of my price range though.

The AFE axle back is relatively affordable at about $1500, so that is another consideration for me now. Just listened to a clip on Youtube, and sounds good.

I like my afe, it's a drastic difference between valve closed and valve open. I don't have a clip comparing the two, but I do have one with the valve open.

If I had to make a comparison, I'd say valve closed is similar to downpipe + MPE, and valve open is literally straight-piped (though my DP is catted).

Why not just mod your stock exhaust for "free"? Have you seen this?

Neat. I'm looking into putting a Varex X-Force valved muffler into my F30.

I searched around, but it doesn't look like anyone has tried integrating the muffler into the stock exhaust flap actuation system.

They're quite popular in Europe, apparently.
