Thanks!!! lol - Angel eyes are very high on my to-do list (I don't know any M3 owner who's happy with them), and it's pretty simple... Just trying to decide which option I like best. I don't like blue light, so trying to find the right frequency...

The reality is, a manual transmission on an M3 is very very desirable. Don't think about what % of people will want a used DCT M3 versus a used MT M3; think about how the demand changes from new to used. It seems like in the new car market, lots of fancy doo-dads sell, but on the used market people like the tried and true. So if 60% of new M3s sell with DCT and 40% with M/T (and I'd be surprised; I bet they sell more M/T than DCT), but on the *used* market, the demand is 50/50, the M/T demand is actually higher relative to the number of cars out there. All ya gotta do is look at how many BMWs sell in silver new, and how many people are clamoring for non-boring-silver colors on the used market. (I should know, I have a silver BMW because I couldn't find the car I wanted in Estoril!) Also, my local shop specializes in yanking broken SMG transmissions from E46 M3s and replacing them with 6MTs. I'm not saying BMW didn't learn anything with the DCT, but I think it's a pretty expensive risk to take when you're talking resale. It might be hard to sell a M/T 760Li (if you could find/build/make one), but on an enthusiast car, there will be a large M/T demand for years to come. And mostly, it's about finding the right buyer for the car, not about 'lower resale value'. Sure, Carmax might not give you much money for a 6MT 535xiT because their sales drones don't know how to sell one and it'll sit on the lot forever, but hop on the forums and people will beat a path to your door to offer you above asking price for it. I sold my Daytona Violet E36 M3 and it took about 3 months to find a buyer. But the sale value wasn't lower, it just took the right buyer. |
