bootmod3: Map Switching (DEMO) - Advanced End User/Tuning Features

Hey guys,
Wanted to share a quick demo of an upcoming new feature for bootmod3 called map switching. In this demo it is running on a 2015 BMW M3 with the MEVD17.2.G DME, S55 motor.

This enables users with bootmod3 to flash once but be able to switch between maps in the car without any other flashing. Custom BM3 maps can be created with current 4 entirely independent maps embedded into one with separated settings for load/torque/boost, ignition timing, fueling, knock sensitivity, iDrive gauges and burble.

Map 1: 0.1 BAR of boost (1.5psi ) - Valet map
Map 2: E30 OTS map
Map 3: 1.8 BAR (26psi) 12 degree timing
Map 4: 2.2 BAR (32psi) 18 degree timing with WMI

At the moment, under the covers over 30 calibration tables and the logic driving them have been exposed to enable this level of configurability, with more coming..

Soon, we're releasing a demo of rolling antilag as well as flex fuel integration using flex sensor integration over the canbus.

DME on the N55 is virtually the same and we're looking to port the features over to the N55 as soon as its finalized on the S55.

All the best, cheers

For now you switch maps with the brake and the gas pedal but they are working to getting it on the steering wheel.

I'm so excited for this!

This is awesome! I'm assuming this will work on the F10 N55. If so I'll be happy I went with BM3!

They said they’ll add it to all cars they support most likely. I can’t wait for it on my M2 and my B58

No, I would assume cruise control like other cars that have map switching on steering wheel. Tach goes to 1-2-3 depending on which map you are choosing.

If they can add functionality to enable map switching from cruise control stalks/buttons, it isn't a stretch to link that feature to a button of our choosing. The underlying software to enable that would already be hard coded to the module for the cruise control. Bm3 would just need a dynamic way for the end user to "tell it" which button to use as a "switch". Result would then be adding our M buttons to empty place holders and configuring bm3 to use it at runtime.

Hey guys, quick update:

First off, ton of fun working and testing these new features! Testing is going really well. We've moved the trigger controls away from the pedals (accel. pedal and brake) to the left side of the steering wheel for ease of use while driving. We're expanding to even more tables that are switchable for each map slot which will make for some really interesting new features not possible so far. Flex fuel tuning is using a continental flex fuel sensor sending ethanol content and fuel temp over CANBus. Along with these changes on the DME side we're expanding the abilities of the tuning editor with features and changes we've been working on for some time now. Lots more to follow here soon. Cheers

Just curious, where/how does the flex fuel sensor patch into the DME?

Left side of the steering wheel as in buttons on the steering wheel, the stalk on the left side, or buttons around the left side vent for the driver?

Still wondering about those M buttons

Cruise buttons on the steering wheel, left of the horn, not the stalk we'll also have it in the app if using the app you can tap on a map slot and switch and see the map slot change in the RPM gauge in the dash cluster indicating it there as well
