Tint or shades
Summer is fast approaching and last year my car was an oven upon getting back to it after work. It gets left in the blazing 35C (95F), sunshine all day so I'd like to get the inside protected slightly.
What are people's opinions on tint? I've heard horror stories where paint and glass get scratched with the scalpels and I've seen many cars get done around these parts and before long it starts bubbling, looking like shite! Is this just an exaggeration and if done properly can I avoid all these issues? The other option is some blinds. They're not cheap though! €189 ($200), for a full BMW set on my F31. That's five blinds in total. I had it on my E87 and it was ok but the biggest plus is they can be removed. Downside is if they get caught in the wind, they fly out of the window (which happened with my E87). Luckily it was on a quiet motorway and I managed to pull over quickly and safely and grab the blind before another car drove over it!!!! Would be great to get your thoughts. Cheers! |

Tint your cars windows, thats durable and lasts for a long time, if you're finding a good shop to do this. I wouldnt recommend blinds or shades, shades must be lowered and retracted by hand, that means, you have to move them as required. Aside from that: Neither a tint nor a shade would prevent you from the oven inside, but a tilted sunglasdeck during parking

I've tinted 4 cars, and never had any issues with damage. Just go to a reputable shop. Most tints have lifetime warranty. You'll see bubbles with DIY jobs picked up at walmart. Just do it. |

I'll see what I can find. It really is tough to find a decent tint shop around where I live. There are a lot of cowboys claiming to be ECU tuners, window tint specialists and detailers. I've heard horror stories where "detailers" have literally destroyed the paintwork on some cars and the tint jobs appear absolutely shite.
Hopefully I can find somebody unless anyone knows anywhere near Malaga / Marbella in Spain!?! Cheers all. |
