Battery discharging while stopped [Error]

Hello!

I recently started getting the "battery discharging while stopped" error on my car. Also, the ambient temperature sensor is stuck at -40F.

I figured both problems are intertwined, battery is low so its saving power by not using the ambient sensor. I did some googling and the ambient temperature sensor is something independent of the battery error. I need to change the sensor is what I'm seeing.

Anyways, I changed my battery and registered it and I still get the same problem.

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on what to do?

  • Just changed the battery, brand new
  • I live in warm weather, apparently this happens from time to time in cold weather
  • I drive my car everyday
  • My car does not have hands free unlocking (common issue that gives this error)
  • I had a JB4 installed. I received the TMAP sensor short circuit error code a few times. This lead me to believe the short circuit drained my battery and gave me this error.
  • Ambient temperature stuck at -40F

All help is greatly appreciated, not sure what to do next.

Check under the front to see if your ambient temperature sensor is broken. Uninstall the jb4 and see if there is still a drain.
Isolate one thing at a time to find the culprit.
