Thanks guys. So best approach is to find out what version of ESYS and PSDzData was used by BMW and use that same version?

Makes sense..

No. I just told you ideally (i.e. best) you would use the latest E-Sys and PSdZData you can. While you may be able to get away with using older E-Sys and or PSdZData today, it is just a matter of time before you car gets updated ISTA/P from dealer anyway, and then you will have no choice but to update your E-Sys and PSdZData. Might as well just do it now rather than prolong the inevitable.

After reading 3000+ posts regarding coding i understand i cant do much with my HU/iDrive other than some basic coding.

What are my options to add a combox? I looked under the boot and it doesn't have one. Is it as simple as plug and play? or do i have to do any wiring.

Friend working at BMW can get me any part with 15-20% discount. However i have also need the combox unit for $330, but it doesn't specify anything in regard to wiring.

Any advice?

Thanks

On older Exx cars and early Fxx cars, a Combox retrofit would involve replacing the MULF module, and TCU module if the car was equipped with Telematics (BMW Assist), and it was not directly plug-n-play, although I think Bimmer Retrofit developed a separate plug-n-play harness to facilitate the installation and avoid changing wires within the wiring harness. You can see what that involved here:

Combox Installation Instruction for Exx Series BMW.pdf

With the introduction of the F30, and new BT Option 6NH, I am not sure if there exists a separate MULF module anymore, or if BT functions are built into the Head Unit, so the Combox connections in a car with 6NH are not clear to me, although I am sure wiring is involved still.

Shawn,

My Car is coming to me from Germany now, Delivery around May, is there any chance at all I'm able to code it with the other esys/PSdZData that did not require the $65 token purchase, or are all cars built now already updated to the latest version?

Your car will have the latest ISTA/P, which means you need the latest PSdZData, which means you will need updated E-Sys.

I send a lot of PM's...

If it was for 3.22.5 and 49.1, then that's it.

No, sorry. I would contact Bimmer Retrofit, which is based out of Quebec, and see if they have a shop in Toronto that could do the retrofit.

So you think I should just reset everything back? You don't know which one of the codes it would be to turn it back on? Everything else I coded is working correctly but that.

It is that or find the exact FDL you changed and change it back.

The choice is yours, but recoding all of CAS and FRM isn't more than 5 minutes of work.

I believe it was something in the cas fdl that I changed I'm not good with German. I think it's the other _FB thing I changed lol. I'll take a look at it and see what I did. Doing your steps will reset it back to factory right?

No, there's no MULF module on the L7 Entry HU platform. For 6NH everything is built into the HU. For 6NK/L the HU either has no BT hardware or it's disabled.

Hi Shawn,

I spoke to a bimmer retrofit dealer in Toronto. He can get that (Combox) installed for me with BMW Live. I confirmed and he said no MULF as it's a L7 HU. He wants additional $150 for BMW Live activation, should i do it with him or should i code it later with the instruction you provided in the earlier post? It's about $800 (including installation with additional wiring) without BMW Live activation.

Thanks

Any coders near The Netherlands know how to code for folding mirrors when locking the car and the gauge meters when starting up the engine?

For starters, S5ADA Lane departure warning (or maybe Lane Departure Warning w/Collision Mitigation) and a 7E FSC Code Imported and Activated in KAFAS module.

I think you can add that later very easily.

Wouldn't BMW live require an FSC code? I've tried adding those VO codes to my car and I never got it to work even with the ghost VIN.
