Coding is only unnecessary if you replace the stock halogens with aftermarket halogens, which IMO makes no sense.

Why not just upgrade to LED ?

Is it the halos you're after or just increased visibility, brightness and whiter light?

Visibility. My lenses have tiny cracks completely covering them. Don't want to go back with halogen housings.

Recommend you do some research on reviews/complaints on umnitza before going that route. Some folks had good experiences, but a number of folks on this and other BMW forums were very unhappy with the quality, Customer service and responsiveness.

I've read nothing but good reviews on the depo housings. That will probably be the route I'll go.
