Hello everyone. We purchased a 2017 320i in August. I have been asking about the prices for a lot of things I want to do with the car. Every single person tell me that person x did this or that with their 320i, and the car with everything costs just under $40k. How much do you guys think the car costs?? We paid $45k. The car itself is $38k and we bought every single warranty BMW sells and we negotiated down the price of that to $7k. Thus, $44k.... wtf.... I will post pics of the paperwork and window sticker at a later time.... is the reason their cars costed is because they bought it right when the new year cars came out? We bought our 2017 right when the 2017s came out. If we were to buy the 2017 now, when the 2018 will be rolling out soon, it will cost $4-6k less.....btw, I'm 17 years old and my parents, who bought the car, were like, if we're gonna buy a car, we better protect the shit out of it so I don't mess it up.

The MSRP is about $32k base ($33.4k as of now, they raise the price every year but include more options as standard) with no options and no extended warranty. Add options and warranties and the price quickly escalates, so that could push it above $40k.

Oh I see. I will post the window sticker of my car at a later time. I have the parking sensors with camera as well as electronic seats. Thanks for the info!

Oh yeah. I had a feeling that they were doing that. I'll post my window sticker and warranty stuff at a later time so that everyone can see why the car costed so much. I'll tell you that the car has a reverse camera and park distance control as well as electronic seats. For warranties, we extended the manufacturer warranty, we got CNA tire and rim protection, dent wizard, and PermaPlate paint guard and PermaPlate interior.

Sounds like you got hosed and there's one happy salesman paying his bills off right now. Dent wizard and paint guard? Did you get the undercoating and tiger keep away spray?

lol I wish. But I have to be honest with you. I've used each of the warranties already. I've had a few parking lot mishaps, and the dents were completely removed. I am very happy that I have these warranties. My car is black, and water spots show a lot. They come to my house every month and clean my car to rid the water spots.

You paid 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS to have a few door dings popped out and someone to wash your car. I paid $42k for my 2015 335 msport

I wouldn't pay that much but the door ding insurance seems like a good idea. I could use that.

Lol. We also extended the manufacturer warranty. Keep in mind, I am telling you what I believe what happened with the negotiations. The paperwork is at my father's house, and I will take a pic of all the paperwork the next time I go.

It's not $7k for just that. I'll post the exact info at a later time so that we can all see what really happened.

So this was the sticker on my 340i. Here in the US alot comes standard, as you can see by all that's included. Only thing that's added is the Navi, black kidney grills, Wheel Locks, Driver Assistance package and 19" Rims upgrade. Total sticker comes to $51K, but I negotiated down to $45K which is cheaper than the base price of $45.8.

DONT come post your window sticker, and DONT come post your paperwork.... that is my unsolicited advice.

Why? Because your purchase is DONE, and there is NOTHING you can do to change the parameters of your deal.

All posting it will do is get people to confirm for you what your deal looks like. Why would you want that? You want a bunch of strangers on the internet berating you for how bad your deal (potentially) was?

There is NO POSITIVE OUTCOME WHATSOEVER to you posting your deal for a COMPLETED transaction. There are ONLY 2 outcomes:

1. People take a look at your deal and say " you know, its great / good / not that bad"? If thats the case you would get some satisfaction that strangers on the internet think your car deal was ok.

OR

2. People take a look at your deal and say " Man you got hosed / ripped off / how could you and your family be so naive!!!!!" In this case, you now have a new car that you hate the dealer for "ripping you off"

I have helped a LOT of people with car pricing etc over the past couple of years, and my experience has been for people in your situation who have to ask the question, generally already know the answer, and its not good.

You might say " well I want to know so I can learn"... well the time to learn is BEFORE you sign a deal, so there is no point in learning "now" since you have the car. Learn before you buy the next one.

Basically a good deal is 7% off of MSRP - excluding destination, then add sales tax, destination and $100 to $200 for doc fee. You can use the build your own to find the MSRP of your exact spec. My 2016 320i optioned exactly how I wanted it cost me $35,800 plus sales tax. I don't get all the electronic gadgets, but I do have Nav, sport pkg, LEDs and several other options. Mine was ED, so that is an additional $1650 off, so mine normally would have been 37,450.

As for the warranty stuff, I never purchase any of that, so I can't speak to that. The way I treat my cars I don't need it and if I do have a mishap, I can have it repaired cheaper myself.

Very true. My father didn't really care when I told him about it a week after he got the car for me. He was like "ok". I'm only asking because 1. I don't really have anything else to do (it's summer vacation for me), 2. I recently became a member on Bimmerpost, so I want to get answers to some of my questions.

I probably won't buy a car for another 10-15 years because I will be the one to purchase my next car. All of these things fascinate me- that's why I asked. If you don't want me to post any paperwork, I won't. I anyways don't have access to it at the moment because it's at my father's house.

ED stands for European Delivery. You order the car from the US BMW dealer of your choice and pick a date to travel to Munich Germany to pick it up and drive it around Europe for awhile. When you are done you drop it off at 1 of many locations throughout Europe and BMW arranges it to be shipped to your dealer of purchase in the US. It is a fun program. They offer an additional discount by lowering the MSRP to offset the travel costs and encourage brand loyalty.

That's amazing. I'll look into that in the future! Was it fun driving your car in Germany? Did they give you a German plate?

It is fun. I have done it three times total since 2001. Nothing like stretching it's legs on the autobahn. Yes, you get a front and rear German tourist plate - they are red instead of the EU blue plates. And you get to keep them. Other European makes do it too. My friend picked up his Volvo S60 R in Sweden.
