Indeed, people forget that the remaining EU countries have the same total GDP as China, so it's like trying to tell them what to do.

In many respects they didn't have to offer anything, we wanted to leave and in what way the leavers managed to extrapolate a vision that included a compliant EU I'll never know, oh yes that was it German cars and prosecco.

Unlikely. Although, been to Copenhagen a couple of times and the residents all speak much better English than the residents of Chesterfield, me included.

What's really going on, or not, at No 10.
It's for this reason I have little or no sympathy for Theresa May. Without doubt she inherited a poisoned chalice - and was always going to have a very difficult job - but in my view it really didn't need to be the fiasco it's become; however, the more facts that emerge the more it appears her hands are well and truly all over the mess that's been created in the last two and a half years so difficult to have much sympathy for her IMO....

to be fair, its not hard (and I include myself in that!).

The Irish also joined in 1973 as they were economically tied to the UK......

See, that's EXACTLY why I was happy to see a leave vote. The EU was enforcing its will on sovereign nations. That dog don't hunt for me.

Many leavers are hard minded enough to trade economic stability for renewed sovereignty. Is there going to be economic hardship bordering on chaos? Yep, probably, but that is a price that many say they are prepared to pay for being able to call themselves British, not European. Time will tell if they are prepared to take the pain.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? They can negotiate whatever terms of brexit they want (future relationship). Hard, soft, pink or green, it is all on the table AFTER the withdrawal agreement is agreed. Is it just me who has this wrong or are these people clueless?

The clue is in the cocking name!

its an agreement to go shopping.......what we buy is decided when we have actually got to the shop!

The EU was not imposing its will on the uk.....We had a veto (as well as a shed load of other special deals!)

In 20 years time when all the younger generation take us back in on less favourable terms, hopefully the leavers will see how short sighted they were.

I think that was just a poor choice of words. I don't recall any of the other 27 countries at any point even hinting that they didn't agree with the EU policy of the 27 club members sticking together for their benefit, whilst the obnoxious pain in the arse member, who always wanted their own way, despite having the best membership package, finally stuck two fingers up and walked out, before walking back in and asking if they could still play....

While 30+ tories voted against it, Labour are just angling for a GE. They might want to be careful what they wish for.

I worked in Denmark on and off for a bit. Lovely people, the Danes, f***ing bright and well educated. My friends over there sent their kids to the state schools as they are better than their private schools - speaks volumes
There are more pigs than people in Denmark so I'm sure they'll find other people to sell the main export to if and when we f**k ourselves over with Brexit

Surprise, surprise Corbyn still bellowing for a GE, why doesn't this self serving t**t realise the country is up s**t street and all he is doing is playing party politics to further his own personal agenda at a time when we need serious people working for the good of the country to try and find a solution or compromise to this appalling mess!

Gah, Corbyn. I actually think he cares less about the people in this country than May does. There is literally nothing he won't do to try to get into power. What a contemptible little man, whose limitations make him exceptionally dangerous.

I don't believe that for a second. My highly scientific poll of leavers identified the following 3 segments:

- Leavers who have enough money not to give a shit
- Leavers who think we will be better off. This includes the lady on Radio 5 who thinks things were better before we joined, when we still had a coal and steel industry, etc. etc.
- 4 other people

What a load of nonsense in one post. Exactly why we're in the mess we're in.

Firstly, we imposed our will on the EU more than any other nation, because we're "special". I would have told us to fuck off years ago.

And the people saying they're willing to pay are all saying it in hindsight. At no point in the referendum did leave ever say the public would have to suffer being worse off for a few years.

Do you honestly think working class voters that can't make ends meet now would have voted leave if they knew they'd have to be even worse off? They were told we'd prosper and have more money, no politician lobbying for leave said until well after the result that we might be worse off.
