Latest CER estimate: the UK economy is 2.5 per cent smaller than it would be if Britain had voted remain. The knock-on hit to the public finances is £19 billion per annum – or £360 million a week.

https://www.cer.eu/insights/cost-bre...lative-decline

Take it or leave it, these economists are a pro - Europe think tank. I would listen to them more than to Prof Patrick Minford and his crew, who as a Vote Leave economist, brazenly stated that Brexit would mostly eliminate manufacturing in the U.K. - and that we shouldn't be concerned about it
And then there are articles like this...

https://www.express.co.uk/finance/ci...taly-recession

I know it’s the express and so hardly trustworthy but it does seem to contain stats that show eurozone countries suffering...
I think there's little doubt the uncertainty of the last two years has had an adverse affect on the UK economy; however, it hasn't shrunk in absolute terms and - thus far at least - the effects haven't been as dire as some were predicting (remember that emergency budget and recession that would follow a Leave vote, neither of which happened?).

Personally I don't think the Eurozone is exactly in good health either and hence in my view it - and therefore the EU - aren't the ultra-safe bet some people believe. Germany is very much the linchpin and if it's teetering on the brink of recession it's not going to be well placed to bail-out the likes of Italy if things go pear-shaped there (which is a distinct possibility and would pose problems of an altogether different magnitude from those we saw with Greece).

So I don't buy the idea the UK economy's doing badly while those in the EU are motoring strongly ahead; of course the last two years haven't helped our situation but economically we're still far from a basket case compared to the vast majority of those in the EU.

Yeh, I saw this Mike. Common practice to have images of the world's most hated people on targets at rifle ranges, i believe, so no surprise to see Corbyn appearing. Bit daft, however, for the British Army to do it.

Unsurprising when he has openly supported our countries enemies over the years.

Although why they thought it was a good idea to film and post it to the internet I'll never know, Paras need to be smarter than that.

Probably best to assume that you mean the Corbyn shooting paras when you say that, and not a marine shooting dead a down and injured enemy.

Brexit has been cancelled due to a leak in the chamber, the EU have been informed we said we'd get a plumber out and get back to them.

Might take some time though, as there are three indicative votes on the decision first

Is it a hard leak or soft leak?......Do we want to have a close relationship with the leak, or should we just tell the leak to fuck off and sit getting wet denying our shoes are full of water and that we are developing hypothermia?

Apparently we'll be standing the EU elections.....That's going to go down like a cup of cold sick with Macron, secretly I think Farage will love it.

Gives the faux-Everyman bore more chance to get his pint-mug and grinning-mug on everyone's screens...and make a few more quid.

It will be amusing to go and vote on the 23rd though, have to find some smiles in this despairing mess that's being made of our future.

As you both say, Farage will be in his element - more opportunity to spread his poison snd bile ... and to fly in Aaron Banks' private jet, of course
