Rear subframe brace - 340xi
Installed rear subframe brace. What a difference it makes! The rear end is much tighter! Took it out on back roads after, much improved!
I do plan on replacing the subframe bushings this winter. Next will be the front subframe brace and control arms. |

I can thoroughly recommend Whiteline rear subframe bushes - I had them installed a couple of thousand miles ago and they've made a big difference to the control of the rear of the car on my F31 which has a rear subframe brace as OEM spec.
There's a little bit more NVH but I'd put in the "negligible" category.

Weird how the F31 came with brace but not the F30. |

it is, I have one waiting to be installed on my 340, looks like they're out of stock of the brace right now.
there's also an OEM alternative, you can read it in this thread: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1080995&page=4

basically the middle braces is thickened versus oem (F80 OEM middle brace is thicker than F30), then the two connecting arms that connect middle brace to rear sub frame, that same type of bracing exists on F33 convertibles. Rolls basically made a thick forged aluminum version of what people have been piecing together using OEM parts from F80/F33's. That's also the upside of the Rolls performance one, its not pressed steel like the OEM pieces are.

I didn't do anything this winter, didn't get my shop insulated yet, I hate the cold lol.
Lower control arms are a must. Huge for handling. I just bought more parts, I'll be buying more soon. Need to get installing these soon! |

Running the F80 tunnel brace on my F30. Just wanted to comment that it is definitely not pressed steel like indicated above. Its thick aluminum and a cheap pickup from the local junk yard. Definitely stiffer than the F30 brace, which is indeed stamped steel.
Incorrect/ misleading statement: "Rolls basically made a thick forged aluminum version of what people have been piecing together using OEM parts from F80/F33's. That's also the upside of the Rolls performance one, its not pressed steel like the OEM pieces are." |

How did your mechanic know the torque settings since the brace isn't oe. For that model? I'm doing something similar and am concerned the shop will not torque enough or too much. Given its keeping the subframe together, it's quite crucial to get right. |
