If you mean oil temp, 245-250 is normal. You can't check coolant temp without plugging into OBD2.

Don't know what you mean by "running about half"

At full temp yes, the oil temp should be well above 190 assuming the car has a stock oil t-stat (there is a thermostat for the oil in addition to the one for the coolant on these cars). It can take 10-15 mins of light driving to fully warm up the oil, FYI.

You really need a way to check coolant temp to confirm. Any OBD2 adapter that can communicate with the car and one of the free apps should work.

sorry If i have not been clear. what I need is what.is causing the p0598 code and the p15f8 code. I am assuming the tstat might be stuck open which is causing the code. I just mention the running at 190 since I know car normally runs at 250.

Did you ever figure out what the issue was with the car? I just changed my valve cover and spark plugs yesterday and am getting the P0598 code from my ODB reader.

Replaced water pump and tstat. Ordered parts from fcpeuro.com for the lifetime warranty.

Went out again a couple months ago warranty came in handy.

Hi, I'm troubleshooting the same pair of codes on my mom's F30 320i.

When they went out again, did you see the same codes, or something else? Just want to confirm before I order the parts. I was planning on just the thermostat, or does P15f8 indicate that both the water pump and the thermostat have issues?

Just buy the parts from fcpeuro.com and replace both. They are together so just make sense.
