Not talking about horrendously expensive cars, but ones actually in financial reach.

Here's my latest love, the colour adds to the appeal for me:

It's nice .. but I would probably spend an extra 5k or so and get an Aston Martin Vantage V8 instead of that Jaaaaag if I was going to treat myself to something like that around that age.

Or £1-2k more and get the 5 litre V8 XKR, 500 bhp version, that's 3-4 years newer.

Still desire to own an Aston more than the Jag personally.. it's a heart not brain thing.

Two completely different cars and choices.

For the same year car, a Vantage is double the money of an XKR.

2007 XKR starts at £13k ish, Vantage £26k.

2010 XKR £21k, Vantage £40k.

It is no where near being a like for like choice.

Personally I think the XKR is the Vantages equal, or for me better. More power, prefer the interior, and I can get kids and cases in if I want. In my book the Vantage isn't close to being twice as good. Each to their own though.

I had a convertible XK for a couple of days as a courtesy car and loved it.

Vantage start at around 23k for a 2006 and I was comparing it with the 18k+ 2007 Jag The OP posted as something 'I personally' would go for instead. The Jag is nice but the Aston is sexier and well more err Bond

As you say each too their own though.
