Confused when choosing new Wheels/Tires
So, this is my first post. Got my 2015 328i xDrive about a month ago and been wanting to change wheels, but once I read my wheel size kinda threw me off. "225/50 R17 94V"
Any recommendations on what to look for?! *attached are pics of wheel & car* |

are you considering 17, 18, 19, 20"? staggered or square setup? will you lower your car at some point or stock height? what type of style/face? 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 spokes, twin spokes, Y spokes, turbine, mesh, lip/no lip, etc.
most importantly your budget for wheels, tires, and usually another set of TPMS for the said wheels. larger/wider wheels means larger wider tires which increases cost. for staggered setups on x-drives, the front and rear tire diameters need to be less than 1% difference for the transfer case. having as close to equal front and rear diameter is ideal. this is another variable that may increase your total cost. Is your vehicle covered by warranty, factory or extended?
If you want to maintain warranty on xDrive components, selecting OEM wheels available on other xDrive models would be recommended to avoid denial of claims. |

If you're looking to upgrade wheels though your stock wheel/tire size isn't that relevant, it sounds to me you need to do a lot of research on upgrading wheels, and potentially ask yourself why you want the upgrade, is there better modifications you could do first, etc. |

245/30, 275/30 have respective diameters of 25.8" & 26.5" and sidewalls of 2.9" & 3.2". with stock suspension, front wheel gap will be 0.3" greater than the rear and the front of the car will be 0.3" lower than the rear giving a slight forward rake. if you have coilovers you'd be able to adjust the front and rear heights to equalize the wheel gap. you could also to 245/30/20, 265/30/20 for a little less front/rear difference personally i'd put on 235/35/20, 275/30/20, equal diameter and sidewall height. will still look decent without lowering because both fenderwell gaps are lessened. taller sidewalls will give a slightly better ride and more impact protection. |
