Alloy Winter Wheel Corrosion, Fix or Replace?

Bought some OEM used rims on Craigslist 3 winters ago. I have slow leaks in 2 of them apparently due to corrosion.

My conversation at Discount Tire that the fix that involves sanding, glue, whatever is just a bandaid and that I would be better off replacing them all. Accurate information?

If I try and pick up another "cheap" set, will I be back in the same situation in 3-5 years or sooner? Im guessing not all alloys are made the same and perhaps spending more will provide better corrosion resistance?
