Are you then suggesting it isn't a good idea? Just want to be clear. You obviously know much more than I do about this upgrade.
UP 7BMW amp fully works with HK(674), however OEM amp must be plugged back in if car is taken to dealer for updates or diagnostics.

Asking because Im deciding if buying the Match 7 is worth it or just to pay the extra premium on the Revenant
The Revenant is a UP 7BMW but with a different color.

There is no point in getting a DSP and not tune it to your own taste, IMO. Otherwise get an XD600/6v2 instead. Louder, as clear and easier to tune.

I would just get the 7 Match Up rather than a rebadged one for more money. Also I am very disappointed with Bavsound not shipping APO. Buying local would mean even a higher premium with VAT. In Europe you can get the 7 Match Up for around 750€ and that includes about 20% tax in the price. So you can see how these other companies just rebadge and charge a ton more extra. If it's the audio profile you are after, just wait for somebody to release. Better yet, get a reputable audio place to do a custom tune. I cannot be more happy with the manufacturers stock profile.

I had done custom tuning using Umik-1 CSL calibrated mic and REW for my X3. It's definitely better than generic SUV profile from Audiotec Fischer. If you only do an amp swap without proper tuning, I believe you are missing out on the real potential. I would said it is money well spent.

You can tune DSP amp yourself, by ear and get good results. . Did this with older PP82DSP BimmerTech in my X3 and greatly improved in B-Tech stock tune file. The Audiotech Fischer software is straightforward to use.

Yes, this is true! I found one for $695. Just don't know enough yet about this to know which amp is right for my incoming Bavsound system. I want decent sounding and easy to setup, given Im no pro.

I dont know what this means. Is the XD600 a better option for non-pro's looking to simply add some power to their system? I simply am upgrading to Bavsound speakers and would like to add some power, given that I've read the stock HK Amp is not sufficient. I am open to this XD600 or the Match UP 7 BMW amps, whichever you guys feel would do the trick. Im no audiophile, just feel the HK system was rather weak, thus would like to do these upgrades.

So that was the first thing I did, thanks very much for the recommendation.

What wasn't clear to me was if this XD600/6 AMP was plug-n-play or required special wiring skills, as well as if it supports the 2ohm woofers and 4ohm speaker arrangement, and all the required channels as I thought I read that the HK system in the M235i is 7 or 9 channels? I could be totally off, reading tons of blogs and not clear on the matter but think this is what I've read thus far.

Most of the XD600/6 installs detailed in this forum and others use cabling made to plug and play it with the HiFi(676) system since the days of the E9x chassis.

Both the current 676 and 674 systems are 7ch, so replacing the OEM amp with the XD600/6 removes the center speaker. Center speaker is only effective if a DSP is used, so nothing is lost by using a 6ch amp. All JL Audio are stable down to 2ohms. Check the complete specs at the JL Audio site.

Any balanced inputs, 4ch inputs/6-8ch outputs aftermarket amp can directly replace the analog inputs OEM amp in BMW.

Thank alot!!
In another chat someone recommended the Match UP7 as being a good option too. I see its also PnP friendly and a bit more powerful (if I understood the specs). I'm leaning towards it but will continue to research the XD600 further thanks to your recommendation. Much appreciated!

The ability to set delay for each channel is a must for proper sound staging. I would go for Match UP 7BMW.

I think it works for the HK systems on the 2 series.

Your radio option must be S6xx.

I think the HK systems on the 3/4 are not compatible.

I have S688A, so are you saying it may be compatible?

Does anyone know if the sound tunes listed here can be loaded on to the Match UP7 amp?

Not sure if the bimmertech tunes can be loaded to the Match. Try one and if it doesn't work, switch back.

FYI. You cannot load tunes on the Revenant. It has two settings. Stock speakers or upgraded speakers. The Match is better for those that like to tune themselves.

Anyways. I can't seem to use the search function or google. I found it before but now I can't find it. Anyone know where the thread is that shows how to take the F33 trunk apart to access the amplifier? I bookmarked it but then that PC finally died (it was 11 years old)

It's still too cold today (my garage is at 43 degrees F) so I will wait for my days off next week when I am in NC to try and take the trunk apart.
